Heavy-duty cutter bar designIdeal wedge shape with very flat profile for best cutting quality in the thickestcrop or flattened forage.
Skids Additional boron steel skid bolted on underneath each disc; easy to replace. Wide area of support (9.8 inch / 25 cm) for less wear. Outer skid is rounded to protect sward.
High-performance mowers
require strong, long-life
bearing assemblies for
mower drums and discs.
Best cutting quality, high
performance and heavy-duty
design – as confirmed by
numerous field tests carried
out using trailed CAT NOVA
mowers.
Flat top plate with smooth surface ensures uninterruptedcrop flow.
Additional reinforcement plate in counter-chop area.
Large twin-race angular contact bearing in single-piecehousing (60 mm effective gap between bearings).
Large gear wheels and heavy shaft machined from a singleforged part.
Complete transmission unit quick and easy toreplace.
Additional trough plate protects andreinforces the gear pan over the wholecutter bar width.

Guard sleeves protect themounting bolts from wearand tear.Guard sleeves are bolted(not welded), so they arecost-effective to replacewhen required.
Large twin-race angular
contact bearing in single-piece housing and aneffective calculatedbearing gap of 2,36 inch /60 mm.
The outermost skids arerounded on the side forimproved freedom ofmovement.Protects sward at head-lands and on corners.
trailed mowersLarge oval mower discs "Vortex effect" guarantees trouble-free mowing in flattened crops, smooth
crop flow and excellent transfer of crop to the conditioner. Maximum knife overlap ensures a tidy cutting pattern in the vicinity of the
counter chop. Extra long curved knives enable even flattened crops to be cut perfectly. If a knife contacts a foreign object it moves upwards to allow the object to
pass underneath unobstructed. Additional feeder bars are bolted to the top of the mower discs on mowers
with cross conveyor belts or roller-type conditioners to ensure opti-mum crop flow.
Cutter bar transmission
An angular gear unit transmits power from adrive belt to the first mower disc.
A constant velocity joint provides stress-freepower transmission.
four drums with the same diameter and athin drum body for high crop flow.
 Heavy-duty multi-racebearings.
 Cutting height adjust-ment system rangesfrom 1.18 to 2.56inch /
30 to 65 mm.

Excessive conditioning
destroys the cell structureand causes cell fluid toescape, loosing nutrients.
Unconditioned – thewaxy coating that retardsevaporation is still intact.Evaporation is more diffi-cult.
Every specialist knows that
you need the best possible
quality forage for dairy catt-
le in order to produce cost-
effective yield.
More energy in the forage
increases milk output at the
same time as reducing the
costs of concentrates.
Faster drying times, improved quaThe trend is conditioning ...Extra dry conditioners carefully rub the layer of wax covering the crop. The forage is then deposited across the full width in an airy blanket. The powerof the sun has immediate and full effect.
Advantages of "extra dry" technology:
Shorter drying period in the field, less risk from the weather. Energy content increased by up to 10% (saves concentrates). Better silage quality due to rapid reduction in PH-value. No tedding (or less tedding) required, which saves time and simplifies the
process. Careful conditioning process reduces loss due to disintegration of sensitive
leaves – providing more protein for the silage. Fewer passes protects the stubble and crop. Highly suitable for contractors.
Lower resistance to drying and largersurface area for evaporation impro-ves the release of water vapour. The best possible conditions for eva-poration are provided. The utilisation ratio is directly propor-tional to the density of the crop, thedry matter content of the forage andthe effect achieved by conditioning.
Correct conditioning
conditioning is not apparentuntil several hours haveelapsed. No visible damageto the structure.
Conditioner with steel tines or rubber rollers
Correct preparation has a positive effect on the
ensilability of the forage.

lopment with the Institute of

Steel tine type conditioners A wide rotor ensures that even really large quantities pass through easily.
Heavy-duty bearings are fitted at either end. Conditioned crop is spread over the full width, delivering a thin layer to opti-
mise the conditioning effect. Transmission for 630 rpm instead of 860 rpm (standard) optional.V-shaped conditioner tines
Tines arranged in a spiral for a smooth flow of forage without torque peaks. Steel tines are mounted with sufficient freedom of movement to be able to
avoid foreign objects – conditioner is not damaged by stones.
Rotor bearings protected
The rotor bearings arelocated on the outside ofthe housing to preventdamage from wrappingor dirt.
Roller type conditioner CRWRubber rollers are designed for conditioning sensitive leaves such as clover,
lucern and other leafy legumes.
The two rubber rollers are positioned right behind the mower discs so thatthe entire flow of crop is transmitted to the conditioner.
The spiral-shaped rubber profiles run towards the centre to deliver a thin, uni-form blanket of forage to shorten the drying time.
The interlocking rollersdraw in the cropsmoothly, squashingthe stalks and rubbingthe waxy surface layerof the leaves.
 Both rollers are dri-ven.
The upper roller isspring-loaded so thatit can ride upwards.
The degree of conditioning can be adjusted by altering the spring settings.
The steel tines arearranged in a spiral. They are arranged moreclosely together betweenthe discs that conveythe crop so that the denseflow of crop can also beconditioned in this area.

Standard swath
 Cross conveyor beltraised
 The hydraulic trans-mission is switchedoff.
Cross conveyor beltHydraulically driven, ensures full utilisation of next implement
One swath is formed with the cross conveyor belt raised, the second swath isthen placed alongside the first (placement width 5.90 – 7.54 ft / 1.80 – 2.30 m).
Or, the trailed mower can lay its swath next to the swath made by a front-mounted mower.
With a wide pickup both swathes can be collected in a single pass. The cross conveyor belt is mounted on heavy-duty rubber shock absorbers.
Driven by its own hydraulic system
When the conveyor belt is not needed it is raised hydraulically and switches offautomatically. Operating errors are eliminated.

Perfect ground hugging ...
The secret for super consi
Three factors are critical here:Drei Punkte sind entscheidend:
Virtually consistent pressure on the ground. The unique cantilever system lets the cutter bar glide over bumps and ridges. Wide range of transverse freedom of movement.
Three-dimensional ground hugging mower unit
TTTT
Pöttinger mowers operate
perfectly in every terrain
regardless of whether it is
flat or bumpy.
The 3D ground hugging sys-
tem is the ultimate suspen-
sion system.
Wide range of transverse movement Suspending the mower unit from a portal
frame gives the cutter bar a great deal offreedom of movement.
The cutter bar is lowered with portalframe.
The unique Pöttinger parallelogramcantilever system transmits precisely theright pressure to the ground.
The adjustable telescopic top link (T) prevents the cutter bar from digging into theground – protecting the sward. The telescopic top link above T and the two low-slung cantilevers below form a paralle-logram. This ensures precise ground tracking and the most consistent chop length.

Weightalleviation
Countersprings
set at an angle, combi-ned with a telescopic toplink ensure best possibleground tracking even athigh speed.
Low-slung link foroptimum ground hug-ging.

stent chop length Weight alleviation
Heavy-duty frame with well thought out engineering
The mower unit is suspended from a portal frame to ensure full freedom ofmovement.
A special lifting system provides 15.7 inch / 40 cm of clearance for driving overswaths..
Counter springs arranged at an angle deliver consistent ground pressure andoptimum weight alleviation. The length of the springs hardly changes when themower unit moves, so the pressure on the ground is virtually constant. mower unit literally floats across the ground consistent chop length even lower power requirement lower wear on cutter bar best protection against obstacles
On level ground:
With the countersprings(E) at their standard set-ting the cutter bar exertsa force of around 132 lbs60 kg on the ground ateach end.
Over a hump::
The countersprings (E)shorten only slightly, increasing the pressureon the ground onlyslightly.
In a dip:
The length (L) of thecountersprings (E)increases only slightly,so only slightly lesspressure is exerted.
Freedom of vertical movement:
The mower hugs uneven ground contours. The pressure on the ground is infinite-ly adjustable using a turnbuckle (K) to set the countersprings (E).
Mowing at top speed ...
CAT NOVA – performance Highest performance is
what you’ve come to expect
from Pöttinger trailed
mowers because they are
built for endurance.
They mow any crop with
the best possible quality
cut in record time.
For the hardest endurance jobs:Drawbar
The drawbar is pivoted using a double-acting hydraulic cylinder. Fitted as standard with a check valve so that no additional transport interlocks
are required. The drawbar on the CAT NOVA 3100 T can be pivoted hydraulically to either
side. This allows a field to be mowed from one end so that the crop driesmore evenly.
Swivel gear unit
Incredible manoeuvrability due to unrestricted turning angle. Complete safety assured because P.T.O. shaft is never at a tight angle.
U-shaped mounting frame
The lower linkages are now really straightforward to hitch up, and there isplenty of room for accessing the P.T.O. shaft.
There is no need to use the hitch hydraulics during operation. This mower is highly efficient even in smaller fields and at headlands. Transmission speeds available: 1000 rpm and 540 rpm.
12
for success Mounting
The category II bow-sha-ped swivel hitch moun-ting can pivot through30° either way. Thetractor and mower cancompensate for unevenground independently ofeach other.
Hitched to lower linkages
High degree of manoeuvr-ability.
Power train
Power transmitted by shaft with low-maintenancec.v. joints.
Maintenance required only once per month Joints and bearings only need to be lubricated
every 250 operating hours Constant-velocity joints are easily accessed by
opening protective cap.
Superior transmission engineering:simple, robust, flexible The PTO shaft is fitted with freewheel unit as standard.
PTO shaft stub on gearbox is set at an angle for smooth running without theneed for wide angle universal joint.
Separate transmission for cutter bar and conditioner for best distribution ofpower.
13
Rotor drive
No additional angular gear unit required. Power is transmitted from the cutter bar shaft to
the rotor by drive belt. The spring-loaded belt tensioner has a wide roll
to adsorb power peaks effectively for jolt-freepower transmission.
Tension can easily be released to remove drivebelt.
Well protected against contact with forage.
