Traffic Summer Camp
Date-26.05.15 to 30.05.15
Venue-Traffic Training Park Bal Bhawan
Teacher on duty - Ms Kiran Mahajan
In order to inculcate traffic etiquettes and road safety habits, Delhi Traffic Police organized free Road Safety
Awareness Summer Camp for school children in the national capital at Bal Bhawan Training Park. Our
twenty students of class VIII also got an opportunity to participate in this camp. The five-day camp
commenced on May 26, 2015 and continued till May 30, 2015.
The event was inaugurated by key personnel- Assistance Commissioner of Police Traffic, Delhi Mr. Sudhir
Aggarwal.
Key aspects covered under the camp were following-
Manual traffic drill
Road safety rules and regulation
Traffic signs, road markings, signals
Disaster Management
First Aid
Self defense and disaster management
The methodology used in camp was quite participatory, interactive and generated interest among students.
This included, lectures, question/ answer sessions, demonstrations, police HQ visits, excursion, films,
Nukkad Natak, slogan writing, quiz and painting competition etc.
This free camp inculcated good road safety habits among children. It also raised awareness among students
on risks associated with driving by minors, which is increasing in Delhi.
The camp served dual purpose, i.e. on one hand it enabled students to learn road safety skills in an enjoyable
manner and other hand children/students utilize their holidays meaningfully.
The camp also taught kids various aspects of road safety, what they should keep in mind after they get a
driving license, the risks of underage driving and how they need to protest and not sit in a car if the person
driving is drunk. It was also told to kids that they should only drive after they have their licenses.”
Students were benefited from this camp and were expected that they will carry back the road safety
knowledge to their homes and schools and convince their family members and friends to obey traffic rules to
drive safely.
The participants were provided daily complimentary refreshments and on the fifth and culmination day, they
were awarded participation certificates. The road safety literature, calendars, caps and other gifts were also
distributed to children during the camp.
All in all the camp was very informative and fun filled event enjoyed by students and also a delightful
