Traffic Safety - Rumblestrips

Visafo equipment, Europes most efficient way toproduce all kinds of rumblestrips, produced by:

Surface Preparation Technologies,inc.www.rumblestrips.com

Operates in all wether conditions.

History

• SPT(Surface Preparation Technology) startedto grind rumblestrips together with WDDOT inPennsylvania in 1992. From here comes namePennsylvania Rumblestrips.

• To Scandinavia in 2002, starting in Sweden.• Danes developed «sinus rumlestrips» to

reduce noise pollution for neighborhood.

Noise

• Original rumblestrips being noisy both inside andoutside veichle

• Sinus development reduces noise outside andkeep fairly high vibration inside

• Low frequent noise, more registered from driveras vibration, not sound through ear!

• Nordic countries doing inlaid marking inrumblestrips, securing markings from damagesdue to winter maintenance.

Best money back investment for traffic safety

• All patterns of rumblestrips solutions givedriver signal: “you are out of lane”, eventhrough layer of snow.

• Inlayed markings increases durability ofmarking 2-3 times. (Up till 7-9 years)

• Best money back investment for traffic safety• Durability of rumble strips similar to asphalt or

concrete lifetime.

Inlaid marking solutions

• Centrelines• Edgelines• Definition: Inlaid sinus marking, is marking

given protection from wear , keeping upfunctionality and at same time giving drivervibration signal.

Recommendation for establishing reinforcedcenter markings (Norwegian Government)

• Consideration should be given to establishing inlaidcenter markings on all roads that are not meeting-free, with speed limit 70 km / h and higher, andpaved minimum width 7.15 meters.

• It is recommended to use inlaid sinus grooves inconjunction with inlaid road markings, because theydo not create noise to the environment, whilemarking is protected from mechanical impact (plows, studs, etc.).

Recommendation for establishing reinforcedcenter markings (Norwegian Government)

• Road markings will thus have a longer life andimproved functional properties. (better wet nightvisibility ).Inlaid edge markings may be establishedon roads with paved width 7.0 meters. If onecombines inlaid edge markings with inlaid centermarkings, paved road width must be at least 7.55 m

• Priorities between inlaid edge and center marking isto be choosen from accident situation.

• Where unwanted driving off road accidentsdominate, priority is given to inlaid edge markings.

Roadwidth fit to 55cm inlaid sinus rumbleline.
