Population growth puts heavy burden in already inadequate transportation facilities.

The growth of vehicles and simultaneous lack of improvement of the existing facilities and traffic management has resulted the following problems.Disorganized movement of traffic

Increase in traffic congestion

Increase in traffic accidents

Decrease in vehicle speeds

This all affects the road capacity.

Other factors affecting the road capacityPoor road maintenance.Badly designed intersections.Inadequate traffic control devices.Pedestrian attitude.Lack of enforcement of laws.

Major problem in KTM city.One of the major problem in Ktm city is the lack of parking spaces.According to Valley Traffic Police, 16,183 out of 64,924 were taken action in the last fiscal year due to illegal parking.

Solution to ProblemVehicle ownership rate which is increasing rapidly, can not be controlled.Length of city road can not be extended immediately.Existing problem of traffic congestion can be improved by utilizing the state owned open areas for parking management..Government will get some revenue and also quarter of the traffic problem can be resolved.
