• Complexity• Scale• Schedule Demands• Multi-agency coordination• Multi-resolution Modeling
Needs• Seamless transfer of data at
every stage of the process• Ever-changing Design• Data Requests
• Analysis Paralysis• Scope the world for data
collection• Budget-Schedule• Need more details• Too much details• Same data, but in finer
resolution• Quick analysis-use
assumptions-don’t worry, we just need to show these results for a newspaper article

Database Setup
25 2018 VASITE Annual Meeting
The Database holds all of the information for the corridor and scenarios. There is a separate worksheet for Existing, No Build, and Build.
The Summary worksheet uses the common segmentation found on the Segment Map Reference Key worksheet to pull everything into a single
line of data for each segment.
Data Compilation
26 2018 VASITE Annual Meeting
Each scenario worksheet contains the information needed for each category. Geometric Roadway, Roadway Operations, and Volumes are next to each other.
27 2018 VASITE Annual Meeting
The Summary worksheet uses the common segmentation found on the Segment Map Reference Key worksheet to pull scenario information into a
single line of data.
Database Consolidation
Stats per Scenario
28 2018 VASITE Annual Meeting
• 310 Freeway Segments• 90+ ramps• 125 Arterial Segments• Total 525 ENTRADA files per scenario• Approximately 175,000 data entries per scenario
Time-consuming, susceptible to human error, extensive QC needed, any re-do would be cost-prohibitive

CH2M/Jacobs Automation Tool
30 2018 VASITE Annual Meeting
A proprietary tool takes the single line of information from the Database and places it into the ENTRADA file (or files) and
summarizes calculated volume and speed information.
The user interface for the macro allows the user to choose
• the Entrada version file• the Database• location for ENTRADA files• template for output summary

Arterials crossing I-66 have 3 unique
segments for each direction of travel,
unless the number of travel lanes changes.
The largest volume value is used for each
segment.
