Jackson Avenue to Temporarily Reopen [December 2-4] KUB will temporarily reopen W. Jackson Avenue to through traffic starting at noon, Friday, December 2, until 6 a.m., Sunday, December 4, to accommodate traffic flow and parking access for the WIVK Christmas Parade. Due to the ongoing presence of construction equipment, curbside street parking and the sidewalk on the north side of W. Jackson Avenue will remain closed during this period. W. Jackson Avenue has been closed to through traffic since late October to facilitate utility upgrades ahead of the City of Knoxville’s Streetscapes project in this area. The traffic control measures and closure of W. Jackson Avenue to through traffic will resume at 6 a.m., Sunday, December 4. Please see attached W. Jackson Avenue Streetscapes Project map for updates and more detailed information. South Knoxville Intermittent Lane Closures [December 2- December 7]Beginning Friday, December 2, and lasting through Wednesday, December 7, excluding weekends, KUB crews will implement intermittent lane closures on the following streets in South Knoxville in order to perform work on the water distribution system: West Blount Avenue Scottish Pike Lippencott Street Work will occur 8 a.m. 3 p.m. daily, Monday- Friday, and lane closures will not occur on every street listed above at the same time. Crews will move from location to location as work progresses. All lanes will reopen to traffic outside of listed work hours and on weekends. Flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control, and local traffic access to driveways will be maintained. Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas. KUB is a municipal utility serving Knox and parts of seven adjacent counties and provides electric, natural gas, water, and wastewater services to more than 445,000 customers. ### Tennessee’s Move Over Law requires motorists approaching a utility vehicle with flashing lights to move over if safe to do so, creating an empty lane buffer. When changing lanes is not possible, motorists must reduce speed.
