Open trados and in Home menu choose New Project. this is if you receive a word file, excel, editable pdf, ttx, or a trados studio file. if you receive a package already made choose Open Package

Choose project name and location in your computer, set date for delivery and click next

Choose source and target language. You can set multiple target languages but only one source

Add the files for translation by clicking add files and you will have a window from where you can browse to the place you have saved the files

Click next after the files have been uploaded. You can select several files or add folders

Add translation memory if you received one or create a new one

Add glossary if you have

Just click next here

Options to prepare the project, without TM if you do not have one, analyze only if you just want to see the number of words and repetitions

finish

After everything is complete here you must not have any errors in the first 2 lines. If you do it means that one of the files cannot be opened by trados

After you click close go to Projects, on the left side and you will see your project at the top of the list. Double click on it, it should be bold after this. Then go to Files (under projects)

Here, double click on the file name to open it

This is the window where you translate. On the left side you have source and on the right target.

After every segment is confirmed go to file/save target as and save the target file in the original format
