Les 4’000 hectares de vignes du canton de Vaud se divisent en six AOC : La Côte, entre Genève et Lausanne, le Chablais, sur les contreforts des Alpes, les Côtes-de-l’Orbe, Vully et Bonvillars, terres de rouges au nord du canton, et Lavaux, célèbre pour ses terrasses, inscrites au Patrimoine Mondial de l’UNESCO. Pour les découvrir, rien ne vaut une visite dans l’un des caveaux où l’apéritif débute toujours par un verre de Chasselas.

Die 4000 Hektaren umfassenden Weinberge der Waadt nennen sechs AOC-Anbaugebiete ihr Eigen : La Côte zwischen Genf und Lausanne, Chablais an den Ausläufern der Alpen, Côtes-de-l’Orbe, Vully und Bonvillars im Norden des Kantons, wo hauptsächlich Rotweine gedeihen, und das Lavaux mit seinen berühmten Weinterrassen, die zum UNESCO-Welterbe gehören. Um diese Weine zu entdecken, empfiehlt sich ein Besuch im Weinkeller, wo jeder Aperitif mit einem Glas Chasselas beginnt.

The region’s 4,000 hectares of vineyards are divided into six AOCs: La Côte, between Geneva and Lausanne, Chablais in the foothills of the Alps, Côtes-de-l’Orbe, Vully and Bonvillars, red wine soils in the region’s north, as well as Lavaux, famous for its terraced vineyards which form part of the UNESCO World Heritage Program. What better way to discover them than a visit to one or the other wine cellar where an aperitif invariably begins with a glass of Chasselas.

Au 19ème siècle, la Suisse devint une destination touristique prisée par l’aristocratie européenne. Afin de répondre à la demande, les moyens de transports alliant mobilité et élégance se multiplièrent. Cette ambiance distinguée a été préservée et perdure aujourd’hui encore sur les bateaux à roue à aubes Belle Epoque de la CGN, classés monuments historiques, comme dans les trains à crémaillère des Alpes vaudoises.

Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde die Schweiz zu einer beliebten Tourismusdestination der europäischen Aristokratie. Um der Nachfrage gerecht zu werden, entstanden zahlreiche Verkehrsmittel, die Mobilität mit Eleganz vereinten. Diese distinguierte Reiseatmosphäre wird auch heute noch geboten: von den Genfersee-Raddampfern aus der Belle Epoque, die Denkmal geschützt sind oder den Zahnradbahnen in den Waadtländer Alpen.

In the 19th century, Switzerland became a tourist destination prized by the European aristocracy. To meet this demand, the means of transport offering both mobility and elegance multiplied. This distinguished atmosphere has been preserved and continues today still on the CGN’s Belle-Epoque paddle wheel boats, classified as a historic monument and in the cogwheel trains in the Alps of the Lake Geneva Region.

Les BrandonsLes­ Brandons­ ont­ en­ commun­ cortège­ déguisé,­ journaux­satyriques­ et­ bûchers­ du­ Bonhomme­ Hiver.­ Malgré­l’opposition séculaire des autorités à ces carnavals d’origine moyenâgeuse,­ les­ bourgs­ du­ Nord­ vaudois­ –­ Moudon,­­Payerne­ou­Yverdon­–­y­sont­restés­très­attachés.

Die BrandonsTypisch­für­die­Brandons­sind­Kostümumzüge,­Satirezeitungen­und­ Winterverbrennungen.­ Trotz­ des­ jahrhundertealten­Widerstands der Behörden gegen diese mittelalterlichen Karnevalsfeste halten einige Ortschaften im Waadtländer Norden­wie­Moudon,­Payerne­und­Yverdon­daran­fest.

The “brandons”The “Brandons” all have in common a procession of participants in disguise, satirical newspapers and the burning of the Snowman. Despite the authorities’ secular opposition to these carnivals of medieval origin, the towns in the north of Vaud, i.e. Moudon, Payerne and Yverdon, have remained very attached to this tradition.

Fêtes des vigneronsDepuis­ 1772,­Vevey­ accueille­ cinq­ fois­ par­ siècle­ la­ Fête­des Vignerons qui récompense les meilleurs vignerons. La prochaine édition de ce spectacle grandiose qui accueille des centaines de milliers de spectateurs est prévue pour 2019.

WinzerfestSeit­ 1772­ finden­ in­Vevey­ fünfmal­ pro­ Jahrhundert­die Winzerfestspiele statt, um die besten Winzer auszuzeichnen. Die nächste Ausgabe dieses grandiosen Spektakels,­ das­ jeweils­ mehrere­ Hunderttausend­Zuschauer anzieht, ist für 2019 geplant.
