The Adventure South Africa - Zambia Saturday 24th Aug: JNB 10:40 – 12:30 Livingstone, (LVI) (B)

We will be transferred to Maramba River Lodge, which will be our home for the next two nights

This afternoon we will visit Victoria Falls and marvel at Mosi-oa-Tunya (Smoke that Thunders) in all its splendor. This evening we will dine at the riverbank restaurant with Hippos, Crocodiles and Elephants all just metres away from us.

Saturday 24th Aug: (B,D)

Sunday 25th Aug: (B)

Early start this morning for a walking safari in the Mosi-au-Tunya National Park, here we will have an almost guaranteed chance to see the very rare, and critically endangered White Rhinos

In the afternoon we will walk and interact with Cheetahs.

Late afternoon and into the evening, we will enjoy a sunset boat cruise, with drinks and snacks, on the mighty Zambesi River, just above Victoria Falls

Monday 26th Aug: (B,L,D) Zambia – Botswana – Chobe National Park

Another early start this morning sees us travelling 1:30 hours to the Zambezi River border crossing to Botswana. Here we will be met by our guides, and set out in 4WD Safari vehicles to nearby Chobe National Park. Nearby by will be one of Africa’s most beautiful waterways, the Chobe River, which supports a diversity and concentration of wildlife unparalled anywhere else in the country. We will arrive at our first campsite around midday, time for lunch, before setting off for our regular afternoon game drive around 3pm, returning to camp at dusk, in time for “sundowners” & dinner around the campfire.

Botswana 2019

Tuesday 27th Aug, thru Wednesday 4th September: (B,L,D)

Our schedule of activities continues each day; early coffee & rusks, 4-5 hour 4WD game drive, brunch back at camp, bush showers, 3-4 hour 4WD game drive, returning to camp at dusk, in time for “sundowners”, dinner and swapping of tales around the campfire. The sounds of the African bush will accompany us to bed in our comfortable dome tents.

We spend 4-nights camping in Chobe National Park, here we will enjoy afternoon small boat cruises on the Chobe River, as well as early morning thru the day 4WD game drives. We then have 3-nights at each of the next National Park campsites, Savuti and Moremi, After the last morning at each campsite, whilst we set off on our early 4-5 hour leisurely game drive, the crew dismantle the campsite, pack it into their 4WD and re-establish it at our next destination. Each of our campsites is exclusively ours for time we are there. We will also be unlikely to encounter more than one other game drive vehicle, on any of our morning or afternoon game drives. Most times we will be the only ones out there! We will enjoy a much more rewarding, less crowded experience, than in the likes of Kruger Reserve and Kenya.

Botswana 2019

Savuti Game Reserve:

At the interior of the park, Savuti boasts most of the Chobe species. It is best known for its predators, particularly the “elephant hunting” lions, cheetah, jackals and spotted hyena, of which there are large resident populations. Many National Geographic and Animal Planet documentaries have been made here, featuring the various predators. Savuti also has one of the highest concentrations of other wildlife in Botswana, very rare African wild dog, elephant, buffalo, impala, tsessebe, red lechwe, zebra, giraffe, rare sable & roan antelope, blue wildebeest, kudu, warthog & much more.

Moremi Game Reserve:

Teeming with bird life and wildlife, Moremi is a prime wildlife area where elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion, and most other game, including eland, kudu, roan antelope, and if you're lucky even leopard, can be seen in abundance. Bird life, both in the delta and dry-land sections, is excellent, especially along the Khwai River. Moremi Game Reserve is one of the most unforgettable wildlife experiences in Africa! Located on the northeast side of the delta, it is probably the prime tourist destination in Botswana, due to the fact that it encompasses several different types of ecological zones

The fine print…

Camping, what to expect:

We will be enjoying non-participation camping; tents and facilities will be set up for us before arrive at each campsite, our meals will be cooked for us over the campfire. The dome tents are twin share and have screened windows on all 4 sides. We will have flushing toilet cubicles and bush showers with hot water (suspended buckets). There will be tables and chairs for meals. There is no Wi-Fi and only sporadic mobile phone coverage; only, thankfully, great conversation

Quest Tours Unique Guarantee:

“There will be only TWO persons on each bench seat of the game vehicles.” This is essential to ensure that everyone in each game vehicle has a window seat for the absolute best experiences possible.

Photographic Opportunities:

Suggested equipment is a digital SLR or Mirrorless camera, plus two lenses, 18mm-85mm or similar, and 100mm-400mm telephoto zoom. It is much better that your camera has a viewfinder, as it is very difficult to compose photos in sunlight via a back screen. We will be shooting in RAW format, so you will need large capacity memory cards for your camera. Travellers with compact digital or video cameras should also get great pics on the game drives. Tour leader Shane, will be on hand to give you any tips, advice or help you would like, all aimed at improving your photographic memories of Africa. Not only will you capture great memories, you will have a whole lot of fun doing it. A laptop computer & card reader for reviewing images, and a portable hard drive would be great to have as well
