Thirteen LSE staff have been humming the oldies Bee Gees tune “Stayin’ Alive”. That is because they successfully completed the requirements for American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification. During the skills portion of the class, that song was played almost constantly to help practice chest compressions at the correct rate of 100-120 bpm. LSE is a safe place to be because we now have a total of 19 staff members that are current in their certification and will correctly respond to a life-threatening situation. They are true CPR Superheroes!

Keenan Lions love to spend time together. Some of the older lions enjoy sharing their love of reading with some of the Li’l Lions on campus. The admiration goes both ways. Not only do these lions spend time together with a book, they also look for each other throughout the day to share a quick wave or high-five. This Lion pride is growing very close.

Oak Hills choir students recently went through the arduous audition process for a coveted spot in the prestigious TMEA Region IX Choir. We are proud of everyone who auditioned this past Saturday! The effort it takes to learn this challenging music and go through the lengthy audition process is incredibly difficult and our students did a fantastic job.

This year Oak Hills competed against 550 students from across the entire region and are excited to announce that we had nine 8th graders and two 7th graders selected! Of the 11 students who made it, three students were ranked in the top ten in their category, and three students were ranked in the top five!

Congratulations to these talented performers for being selected for the prestigious Region 9 Choir:

Calder McDonald - 8th grade, ranked 2nd chair Zoe Powell - 7th grade, ranked 3rd chair Macey Pool - 8th grade, ranked 5th chair Emma Gober - 8th grade, ranked 9th chair Brenna Lovan - 8th grade, ranked 10th chair Kinsey Williams - 8th grade, ranked 10th chair Olivia O’Connell - 8th grade Abby Carswell - 7th grade Lexi Howell - 8th grade Brody Bower - 8th grade Ethan Zeller - 8th grade

Lone Star Library Leaders have been busy selecting books for our library!  Each student at LSE took a survey created by our Library Leaders to determine which books students wanted to add to the LSE Library.   Using the information from the survey, the Leaders created a book order based on the top 10 categories requested.  The books have arrived and our Leaders are planning ways to advertise the new titles to LSE.

Thank you to MISDEF for providing a grant to make this project possible!

Kindergarten classes created terrariums for earthworms with soil and water. They can't wait to see all the tunnels and burrows their "pets" make and are realizing how important they are to our ecosystem.

At Madeley Ranch, our teachers know that learning scientific concepts is best done when it's hands-on. Kindergarten and first grade classes have been learning about organisms and the needs that living creatures must have in order to grow.

First graders have been incubating chicken eggs in class. They have learned that the eggs need constant warmth and humidity in order for the baby chicks to grow inside. By candling the eggs, they were able to see that chickens grow from just a ball of cells. The students are waiting in anticipation for those eggs to start cracking!

Lincoln Elementary held its first Spring S.E.M. Showcase in the Café last Thursday. It was a huge hit! Parents, students and teachers were excited to walk through the café and see the final creations and productions. Students took turns presenting and explaining their projects. L.E.S. loves E-tracks!

Field Day 2019 Lincoln Bears had perfect weather for their first Field Day! A big "shout out" to Coach Rader and Mrs. Isbell for planning and organizing this fantastic event. Students rotated through stations, relays and bounce houses. They also enjoyed a dance party in the café and cooled off with a Kona Ice snow cone! Good times and laughter could be seen and heard all over the campus!

    Kindergarten Visitors

Kindergarten students got a special surprise on Friday during Genius Hour. These students have spent time exploring and learning about different animals so they got the chance to meet some of the animals they have learned about. Some parent volunteers brought in a Burmese python, an axolotl and a uromastyx. The students loved seeing these exotic animals and even the teachers had fun petting the unique creatures. Thanks to our kindergarten teachers and volunteers for sharing these unique animals with our students.

Advancing ten boys in nine events, and nine girls in 12 events, to the Area meet, MHS Track & Field team dominates their competition at the UIL 5A District 18 Meet on April 9-10 at MISD’s stadium. Both the boys and girls teams won 1st place overall, with the boys scoring 27 points more than the 2nd place team, New Caney Porter High School, and the girls scoring 40 points more than the 2nd place team, Kingwood Park High School. Special thanks to student photographer, McKaylie Self.

MES recently held their 1st Annual Mom and Son Nerf Night. It was a HUGE success. Picture moms and their sons running around the gym hiding behind barricades and jumping out trying not to get hit by the incoming nerf bullets; it was a fun time to be had by all. Besides the Nerf fun, they also enjoyed pizza and a movie. We love promoting quality family time at MES, and watching the smiles and laughs made it all worthwhile.

Our Spring E-Track Showcase was also a HUGE success. What a joy it is to see our students enriched each week and to come out with a product or service they made themselves. From bookmaking, to Rubik’s Cubes, woodworking to sign language, we love enriching our students at MES.

The Lake Creek Student Council is attending its first TASC State Convention representing our brand new school; seeking new ideas and information to bring back for next school year.

The LCHS Theatre troupe continues to advance through Regional competition and is now headed to the State Competition in late April. We are eagerly watching this group of young thespians in their remarkable first year!

Lake Creek’s Law Enforcement teacher, Mr. McDougald arranged for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and for the Montgomery ISD Police Department to share some great learning experiences for our kids!

Lake Creek’s Best Buddies recently went to Seven Acre Wood in Conroe for a fantastic outing. It was a day filled with crazy basketball matches, pink lemonade drinking competitions and chasing after barn animals! A big thank you to those who came!
