Tractor Industry Of IndiaIn 1892,Jhon Froelich of Germany built the

first tractor and gave it to Waterloo Gasoline Industry.

The five year plan from 1950-1960 gave a boost to the mechanization of agriculture which brought the tractor industry an important role to play in India

Companies like John Deere,Mahindra,Force, Balwan etc contribute to 125 billion tractor indusrty.

The cost of tractor 65,000-286,500 INR.

StrengthsIt is a multipurpose vehicle which serves in

the agricultural operations as well as in transport.

The reliability and unique design makes it acceptable to any terrain.

Operations performed by it are faster than the conventional agricultural processes

As 70% of peoples occupation is agriculture they have been of great importance.

Weakness

It is not applicable to small farms.It consumes lot of fuel,thus economic

conditions of the farmers come into play.People still adhere to conventional

practices of farming due to lack of education.

It becomes difficult to use tractors in step farming like rice etc.

OpportunitiesIn India the 17.2% GDP comes from

agriculture there is always huge demand for agriculture products.

New technologies in tractor will be always accepted with open arms.

Educating the farmers will also increase the sale of tractors in the market.

In Mahindra plant at Chakan, 3500-4000 tractors are produced in a day.

ThreatsThe Chinese tractror is a huge threat to the

existing tractor indusrty.It has crossed more than 35 billion in just

two years.They are 3 to 4 times cheaper than the

conventional tractors.Thus the industry have to cut short of

prices in future.The increasing fuel prices also is a major

threat to the industry.
