    USING YOUR AUDIO SYSTEM

    Turning the power on /

    adjusting the volumeTo turn the aud io system on or off,press the pow er knob.

    To adjust the volum e,turn thevolum e knob.

    If you turn off the ignition ,theaud io system w illcom e back on at

    the preset m ed ium levelw hen theignition is turned back on .

    Turning the knob to the rightw illincrease the volum e.

    Using the AM/FM select

    Using the scan function

    In radio m ode, press the scanbutton to hear a five-secondsam pling of alllisten ablestations on the frequency ban d.To stop the scan m ode on aparticular station,press thebutton again.

    In tape m ode,press the scan

    button to hear an eight-secondsam pling of alltape selections.(The tape scans in a forw arddirection.A t the end of thetapes first side,the directionautom atically reverses to theop posite side of the tape.) T ostop at a particular tape

    Using the radio station memorypreset

    T he radio is equipped w ith sixstation m em ory preset bu ttons.These buttons m ay be used toselect up to six preset A M stationsand tw elve preset F M station s (sixin F M 1 and six in F M 2).

    To preset station s:

    1.U se the A M /F M select buttonsto choose a frequency band .

    2. Select a station.F or m oreinform ation on selecting a station,

    see U si n g t h e tu n e a d j u st in thisguide.

    3.P ress and hold a m em ory presetbu tton untilthe sound resum es,indicating that the station is h eldin m em ory on the button that youselected .

    Using the bass and trebleadjust

    T he bass and treble adjust bu ttonsallow you to increase (+ ) ordecrease (-) the bass and trebleoutput.

    Using the speaker balanceadjust

    Speaker sou nd distribution m ay beadjusted betw een the right (+) andleft (-) speakers by using thebalance button .

    Speaker sou nd distribution m ay beadjusted betw een the front (+)and back (-) speakers by using thefade button.

    To test speaker functions,pressand hold radio m em ory presetbu ttons three and six. T he audiosystem w illautom atically runthrough each of the possiblespeaker outputs (fron t left,fron tright,rear left,rear right).T hesystem display w illshow w hatspeaker is being tested.

    Using your cassette player (ifequipped)

    P ush only sligh tly w hen inserting acassette tape (w ith the op en edgeto the right).A cassette deck

    load ing m echanism pulls the tapein the rest of the w ay.T he ignitionand radio do not need to be on toinsert a tape.

    You can sw itch from C D (ifequipped) to tape play by insertinga tape into the cassette deck.

    To play the alternate side of atape, press the tape directionselect bu tton (preset #1).

    To stop and eject a cassette tape,press the eject button.If the radiopow er is on w hen you eject a tape,the radio begins playing.

    Dolby noise reduction (ifequipped)

    To activate and then deactivate theD olby noise reduction in tape orC D m ode,press the (preset#2).

    To access the C D changerm agazine,slide the m agazines leftdoor panelto the right.

    If play d oes not begin once a disc

    is inserted:

    the radio is not on.

    the unit is in the stop m ode.

    If the sound skips:
