“Hearts of Dust” When the Civil War finally ends, a tired and wound-ed South tends to their wounded soldiers left in the trail of battle. In one field, a small medical field hospital is set up. Anna, a Cauca-sian woman, tends to her fiance, a wounded Confederate soldier. On the other side of the field, an African American woman, Hazel, tends to her life long love, Da-vid, an African American porter, wounded as he carried supplies for the Confederate Army. When

Charles’ dies before he can finish his wedding vows, Anna must learn to heal her pain, by reaching out to Hazel, giving her the wedding dress she wore so that Hazel can legally marry in the new union of North and south, in the reborn United States of America.

Who are some of your musical influences?

Some of my musical influences are Marvin Winans, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, and Donny Hathaway.

What inspired you to create your first song?I thought I couldn’t write so I was forced to write my first song.

When did you know you had the gift of singing? I knew I had the gift of singing when I led my first solo in the children’s choir.
