    Aims:

    Grammatical aim- To recycle and give studens practice on ways of expressing ability using the

    structures can, couldand be able to. To focus students attention on the differences for past a future

    reference.

    Sub aims- To preview language connected to the movie Hotel Transylvania. To recycle

    adjectives like cute, scary.

    Anticipated problems- Ss`may have problems to use the inversion in questions.

    Solutions- Try to make them self-correct by making them aware of the inversion with the finger

    technique:

    Meaning: Expressing ability. "Be able to" is possible in all tenses - but "can" is possible only in the

    present and "could" is possible only in the past for ability. In addition, "can" and "could" have no

    infinitive form. So we use "be able to" when we want to use other tenses or the infinitive.

    Warm up: Show a poster of Hotel Transylvania and ask questions to make students predictwhat the movie clip is about.

    Matching activity: Pre-teach vocabulary items from the video and others that will beneeded later for the activities that may obscure understanding like: bonfires, fireworks, to

    get it (understand it), haunted forest, the undead, to run away, to crawl.

    Show movie clip. Check understanding of meaning.

    Who is Harry the Human? The charachter from the story that Dracula reads

    What does Dracula teach the baby? To fly! To be a bat.

    What is Dracula's project? What is he building? Hotel Transylvania/ a scary place/ a castle.

    Can humans get in there? Why not? No, because there are monsters/ ghosts/ scary

    things.

    Who is Martha / the woman in the picture? Mavis' mum.

    Why does Dracula build Hotel Transylvania? To protect Mavis from the humans.
