#5 Lubey/Blunt - 3 vs #3 Nucci/Gooldy - 0

Lance Lubey rebounds this week as he shaves 9 strokes off his score from the week before. He led his team to a 3-0 victory over the Nucciless Eric Gooldy. The score was 3-0-2 after 5 holes. It didn’t get any better for Eric as he failed to win any hole and finished with a line of 0-6-3. I’m happy to report that Lance suffered no fits of rage and didn’t toss anything this week. All this and Bill Blunt keeps rollin along.

holes and 3 birdies by the winning team, John and Tim dug a hole they would never get out of. 2 more birdies and 3 winning holes, Rich and Will finished a 5-3-1 victory. John and Tim played well, just not good enough against the juggernaut called Rich and Will.

#6 D’Amico/D’Amico - 3 vs #4 Cahill/Stern - 0

This match was about as one sided as you can get. Gene and Gene Jr out played Pete and Dave winning 6 of 9 holes with 3 ties. What ever the losers were playing, it wasn’t golf. The score was 3-0-2 after 5 holes. The winners waltzed home winning 3 of the last 4 holes to end with a 6-0-3 victory. Thank God winning holes doesn’t mean anything.

#10 Girmonde/Girmonde - 3 vs #16 Wojo/Heintz - 0

Sam and Dave would win 8 of 9 holes in route to a 3-0 victory over rookies Jarett Wojtowycz and Nick Heintz. With a score card with nothing but 2-3-4 or 5’s, and the victory well in hand, Sam would record a very uncharacteristic dreaded “other” 10 0n #17. Dave Girmonde would chip in with a double bogey 6 for a combined +8 on the hole.

#11 Zegarelli/Berge - 2.5 vs #13 Sadallah/Tripp - .5

Nick Zegrelli and Shane Berge flex their muscles and dominate their opponents John Sadallah and Dom Trip. The line read 3-0-2 in favor of the winners. More of the same on holes 15-18, highlighted by birdies by Ziggy and

Shane on hole #16. In the end, the line read 5 holes won, none lost and there was 4 pushes. I don’t know if it just me, but John Sadallah needs a haircut.

#2 Niemers/Banas - 2.5 vs #8 Girmonde/Palmer - .5

This was a match of heavyweights. Heavyweights meaning 2 top tier teams in this league. Very evenly matched with each team getting one stroke. This match featured 3 birdies, 1 by Don Niemers (#11) and 2 by the losers, Dave Girmonde, Jr and Joe Palmer. (#15, #17). There was one double bogey by the winners and 2 double bogies and 1 triple bogey by the losers. The difference in the match lies somewhere within those bad holes.

#15 Hubble/Clarke - 2 vs #9 Grabinski/Welch - 1

Rookies Chris Hubble and James Clarke win just 2 of 9 holes, yet win this match over Gary Grabinski and Gary Grabinski. Lee Welch wasn’t around so Gary played as a single. After 5 holes, Team score were Grabinski x 2 -44 to Hubble/Clarke -49. The Gross score had Gary in the lead. The net score tells us something else. The net score had the winners in the lead 39-44. The final score tells us that nothing changed at the end of this match. Diving deeper into why the match was won, look at James Clarke’s score with a net 31. Rumor has Lee Welch absent because of Gary Grabinski’s putting woes.

#14 Bunal/Hamlin - 2 vs # 14 Bunal/Hamlin - 1

Chris Bunal was a no show today so Dave Hamlin went to battle by himself. Things were going well as he would come out on top the first 2 holes. After halving the next 2 holes, Dave blew a core carded a 9. That was the beginning of the end. That ugly score would appear again on hole #16 to put this match out of reach for Dave. Pete Logue and Russ Cahill played good enough to win winning 4 of the 9 holes.

This is a quiet week. Not much to say here. If anyone has anything to say, they can let me know and I’ll print it here in Twin Ponds Golf Weekly. You’ll be famous…It has been a much different summer this year. Pandemic aside, it is much warmer and much drier. We are playing with August conditions. No fault of the management here. We’ve had very dry weather. The course is in very good condition sans some slow greens…Eric Gooldy misses his partner so much, he has given up and has lost all hope while Vinny has been away. Look for Vinny to return the week of July 22…Thinking of the final outing. If any of you have some ideas, please share them with Gary or myself…Until Next Week…
