From December 18, 2018 Public Meeting - Council scheduled a public meeting for January 22, 2019 at 7 p.m. for applications proposing to rezone and subdivide the lands at 464 Mount Albert Road to permit 14 townhouse units and 6 single detached units. Residents can attend and hear more about the applications and provide feedback. Learn more at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/planningapplications. Drinking Water System - For the second year in a row, the Town has received 100 per cent compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act. For the past 10 years the Town has had an average compliance rate of 98.2 per cent. Based on these very positive results, residents can be assured that the Town’s drinking water is safe and the system is being well managed. Mount Albert Water Supply Environmental Assessment (EA) - York Region will be conducting an EA to determine the preferred option to improve the overall aesthetic quality of the water for the Mount Albert water supply system. Residents will be consulted through the process and should be aware that all water is safe to drink, and meets all safety standards. Dates for public input will be communicated. Dog Tag Update - Residents are reminded that all dogs are required to be licenced annually. Council approved a change in cost to $35 per year, which is aligned with neighbouring municipalities and will ensure appropriate costs are covered for the administrative process. Senior prices will remain at $26. Learn more at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/animalcontrol. Health & Active Living Plaza (HALP) Update - CWC recommended moving ahead with the design of the HALP. Opportunities for public feedback on the design will occur over the coming year. The HALP will include convenient and complimentary services at one location, such as: Town services, aquatic services, gymnasium, track, programming space, park and library space. There will also be space for community partners. Learn more at www.eastgwillimbury.ca/HALP. Cannabis Retail Stores - Due to a lack of rules and regulations, CWC has recommended that the Town opt out from allowing cannabis retail stores at this time. Committee has asked staff to prepare a policy statement and report back mid-term, to re-evaluate. This item will be reviewed by Council for ratification at the January 8 Council meeting at 3 p.m. Zoning By-Law Update - On Dec. 11, 2018, LPAT held a Case Management Conference to review appeals to the by- law.
