PRAYER SHAWL SHOP-HOP Six ladies were able to go on a Shop-Hop Wednesday, June 11th to Champaign and Maroa. The group visited the Needleworks and Klose Knit shops looking for new patterns and yarn specials before lunching at The Courier. Winding their way through the country, the last stop was Country Lace & Wood Creations to dig through the wide variety of yarns and threads for additional supplies and ideas. Special thanks to the group for their help with the Prayer Shawl display showcasing the many projects this ministry has created for our members and friends of the congregation. Please join the group when we reconvene this fall. Cathy (Lay Ministry Team leader

CHRISTMAS IN JUNE AND JULY

Dove is thinking about Christmas Stockings. Everyone loves the fantastic homemade stockings for the Annual Christmas Baskets’ Drive that they have been using since 2012. It will now be a permanent part of their program,

so they will be in need of more for the 2014 Christmas Baskets. If you would like to be involved with the stockings, please call Dove at 428-6616 and they will see that you receive a pattern. They would also like to ask for donations of material to make the stockings. If you have any spare material around your house from a project you didn’t quite get to, please consider donating to the “Christmas Stocking” project. It doesn’t have to be Christmas material, any material will do. Material may be delivered to the 302 S. Union offices, lower level. Thanks again to help Dove.

THE LORD CALLS US TO SERVE Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

SUMMER SHOWCASE BIBLE STUDIES

WOMEN’S STUDY: Horizon’s Bible Study, published annually by Presbyterian Women in 9 lessons, is used by the group which meets monthly, April through December. The Presbyterian Women’s committee selected 2 Corinthians for this year’s study. All women are welcome to join us in the Gathering Room on the third Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m. to nurture their faith. MEN’S STUDY: Five wide-awake early birds, George Batson, René Corcoran, Dick Fiala, Ray Landon, and Paul Rosenberger, are the current members of the Men’s Bible Study Group that meets each Thursday morning from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. in the Gathering Room during the months of March through November. Each meeting begins with some freshly-brewed hot coffee and a tasty treat (donuts, coffeecake, cinnamon rolls, etc.) brought by members. After sharing any noteworthy announcements or current events, the members, using any version of the Bible, take turns reading orally a chapter in sequence (i.e. – Genesis, Exodus, etc.); we are now reading in Galations. Members typically offer comments, ask questions, and share opinions. Rev. Mike Wakeland was the original organizer of the study way back in 2004, calling it RAMBO (Reformed Adult Men’s Bible Organization). The group welcomes new members to join them any Thursday morning – no Bible expertise is required, no tests are given, and no attendance is recorded.
