Hospital Tours – Free!Tours designed to introduce you to where you will give birth and recover. This is also an opportunity to ask questions regarding the hospital experience. Designed to relieve prenatal jitters, our group tours lead you through the Labor & Delivery area and the Mother/Baby unit. All tours hosted by certified childbirth educators.

Preparation for ChildbirthClasses are designed to provide parents with an overview of what to expect during childbirth and options regarding labor, birth and postpartum. VBAC – Vaginal Birth After C-SectionThis class provides information and specific techniques to build mother’s confidence in preparation for Vaginal Birth after Cesarean delivery. Specific strategies are discussed for use during pregnancy, labor and delivery to improve comfort and progression of labor in a VBAC birth. Discussion includes issues related to VBAC, and preparation for a family-centered birth, either vaginal or cesarean.

Extended Breathing & Relaxation TechniquesA class to supplement the core Preparation for Childbirth classes. This class explores extensive coping, breathing and relaxation techniques for labor, including breathing patterns, massage, visualization, labor aids and coaching skills. Baby Care ABCJoin other soon-to-be parents in this one-night class and learn the basics of newborn care. Topics covered are newborn appearance, feeding, bathing, diapering, umbilical-cord care, when to call your health care provider and general safety.

Infant CPRA hands-on class offering parents and caregivers of infants the basics on how to respond in an emergency when an infant stops breathing or is choking. The class is led by an infant CPR certified Registered Nurse.

Children Are Priceless Passengers (C.A.P.P.)C.A.P.P. is for families in need of a car set. Class instructors are Certified Car Seat Technicians who advise how to properly install a car seat in your family vehicle. Pregnancy and Postpartum Support GroupA place for mothers to get together to help each other find hope and healing from baby blues, depression and anxiety, during and after pregnancy. The group is open to the community. No admission fee or registration required.

Big Brother or Big Sister ClassTaught by a TMC Child Life Specialist this is a special 90-minute class for children expecting a new baby in the house. Hands-on play introduces siblings to their new role as a big brother or big sister. The class also includes safety, holding and diapering and feelings evoked by the introduction of a new baby into the family. Please bring a stuffed animal or doll for diapering. A tour of the area where Mommy will be having the baby is also included. Adults are required to provide photo identification. Children must be between the ages of 3 and 11.

Breastfeeding BasicsThis class is taught by Tucson Medical Center RNs who are internationally board certified lactation consultants (IBCLC). Covered are basic breastfeeding positions, helping your baby latch on, how to tell if feedings are going well, and how to balance working and breastfeeding. This class is taken before the birth of your baby.
