2Early morning arrival to the HOLY LAND. We will transfer to our hotel by the Mediterranean Sea to rest. In the afternoon orientation and discussion of the tour itinerary. Overnight Tel Aviv. (Meals in flight -D)

3En route north we will visit CEASAREA, site of Herod's Palace, home of Cornelius and where Paul was brought to trial. We travel to MT CARMEL and Muhraqa, where Elijah called down fire from Heaven to defeat the prophets of Baal. Visit MEGIDDO, site of a city built by King Solomon. View the large plain where the final battle of Armageddon is prophesied to take place. Overnight Galilee. (B-D)

Morning visit to Nazareth, Church of the Annunciation and the Mount of the Precipice for a spectacular view over Nazareth and the surrounding Jezreel Valley. At Nazareth Village we study housing, implements and lifestyle from the time of Jesus. After a St Peter’s fish lunch we board a traditional sailing vessel to cross the Sea of Galilee. Time for study and reflection as we pause out on the Sea to remember Peter’s encounter with Jesus. We disembark at Nof Ginnosar Kibbutz where we will see the remains of a boat from the time of Jesus. CAPERNAUM, the city of Jesus is our next stop. We inspect the ruins of the synagogue where Jesus performed many miracles, view the excavations of ST PETER'S house and visit TABGHA, where Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fishes to feed the multitudes. Ascend the MOUNT OF BEATITUDES, where we will read the Sermon on the Mount. Overnight Galilee. (B-D)

5After breakfast and morning devotional, we travel to Upper Galilee visiting Hazor, where Deborah and Barak fought Sisera. On the Golan Heights we explore Tel Dan, the Northern Tribe of Israel’s cult centre. At picturesque CAESAREA PHILIPPI, we discuss the significance of the location where Peter confessed his faith in Jesus. Time to visit Tsipori/Zipori before returning to the Sea of Galilee we visit Bethsaida remembering the healing of the blind man and finish the day at the Jordan River Baptismal site. Overnight Galilee. (B-D)

6Early morning departure South, following the scenic Jordan Valley to Ein Harod, or Gideon’s Spring. Continuing to Beit Shean where Saul’s headless body was hung on the Gates of the city and one of the ten major Decapolis cities during the Roman period. At Qumran we view the caves where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. Afternoon arrival to the lowest point on earth, The Dead Sea. Time for a ‘float’ in the medicinal waters. Overnight Dead Sea. 7Ascend by cable car to Masada, Herod’s magnificent summer palace and fortress, for views of the Dead Sea and Jordan. Pause at Ein Gedi, David’s refuge from King Saul, for study time, and then on to Jericho, considered to be the oldest city on earth. Visit the tel and, Elisha’s Spring, walk the Roman road that leads up to JERUSALEM! Overnight Jerusalem. (B-D)

8The day begins with a pilgrimage to where it all began – BETHLEHEM of EPRAHTAH, the birthplace of Messiah. We make a short visit to Manger Square the Church of Nativity and the Grotto of St Jerome, with study time in the location of the ‘Shepherds Fields’. A short stop at 3 Arches to view the artisan olive wood carvings of Biblical times and time to grab some souvineers. We continue to the Herodium, Herod’s administrative centre and burial place. Overnight Jerusalem. (B-D)

9Today we explore the ancient City of David, Warrens Shaft, and cool down during the heat of the day with an expedition through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, exiting at the Pool of Siloam. After lunch and discussion we visit Mt Zion, the Upper Room and Caiaphas House. After dinner enjoy the Tower of David Night Spectacular at the Citadel Museum. Overnight Jerusalem. (B-D)

10In New Jerusalem we pass by the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament Building) continuing on to the Israeli Museum and the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. View the scale model of the ancient city of Jerusalem in the time of Christ, including the Jewish Temple. Visit YAD VASHEM, a memorial built in honour of the six million Jewish lives taken in the Holocaust. Overnight Jerusalem. (B-D)

Experience the atmosphere that sets Jerusalem apart from any other city in the world. We have a full day of touring Old Jerusalem following in the footsteps of Jesus. Begin on the MT OF OLIVES descending the Palm Sunday road to the GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE. Entering into the OLD CITY through ST STEPHEN'S GATE we visit the POOL OF BETHESDA, where Jesus cured an invalid. Continue to the Ecce Homo Convent to view the Lithostratos, and to visit the PRAETORIUM, site of the public trial and condemnation of Jesus. Passing the Stations of the Cross along the VIA DOLOROSA arrive to the Holy Sepulchre Church. Security permitting, ascend to the Temple Mount and Threshing Floor on Mount Moriah. Location of Abraham’s offering of Isaac. Time at the most sacred site for the Jewish people, the WESTERN WALL, followed by a walk through the Rabbinical Tunnel. We finish our tour of the Old City at the Jaffa Gate and the Christchurch museum. Overnight Jerusalem. (B-D)

12Departing Jerusalem travel to Hebron and visit the tombs of the Patriachs. Visit the Valley and Elah, where David and Goliath fought their battle. Travel south through the restored agricultural landscape of Israel to Beer Sheva to visit Abraham’s well and the memorial to the Australian Light Horse. Returning to Tel Aviv by way of Latrun, Emmaus and Zorah we arrive to Joppa, home of Simon the Tanner. (B-D)

13Early morning visit to the GARDEN TOMB. Learn of Gordon’s Calvary and share Communion at an open air altar close by to the Garden Tomb. The serenity of this place makes it a spiritual oasis within this bustling city. Time to visit Shevet Achim, a grace-based international community that brings children with congenital heart defects to the advanced medical centers in Israel. Overnight Jerusalem (B-D)

14Free day in the Holy City. Time to explore, discover or simply relax and take time to soak in the atmosphere that sets Jerusalem apart from any other city in the world. After a farewell dinner, transfer to the Ben Gurion Airport for a flight via Bangkok home. (B-D) For those attending the Passion Play in Oberammergau we overnight in Jerusalem.

THE PASSION PLAY EXPERIENCE
The Passion Play theatre is large, but intimate in nature. In response to feedback from last time, the capacity has been reduced to 4,400 seats to allow guests more space. The play is performed in all weather conditions with the audience under cover, viewing the open-air stage and natural mountain backdrop (though there is now a retractable roof which may be used). The play will be performed fi ve times weekly from May through September. The fi ve hour performance begins at 2.30 concluding around 10.30 with a three hour break when dinner is provided in your allocated restaurant. (from mid-August performances begin one hour earlier)
The Oberammergau Passion Play canbe seen only in Oberammergau.PART ONE: 2.30pm - 5pmPART TWO: 8pm - 10.30pmFrom a dramatic point of view, the fi rst half is in daylight, enhancing such spectacular scenes as the Palm Sunday procession when over 2,000 villagers are on stage at one time. The second half is quite diff erent as the stage lighting and special eff ects make a stunning impact. You will feel part of something truly special as the open-air stage is transformed into the Garden of Gethsemane with the disciples huddled around open fi res.
