TOUR OF QUITO & MIDDLE OF THE WORLD 1 Day
Quito, declared by the UNESCO Patrimony of Mankind in 1978 is one of the
most beautiful colonial cities in South America. Let us show you the most important places with our personalized services.
Start your tour at 09h30. Your guide will pick you up and will drive you to the
BASILICA an impressive neogothic church facing Quito’s colonial city. The
Basilica del Voto Nacional is considered one of the biggest neogothic churches
in Latinamerica.
Your tour will continue to Santo Domingo, a colonial church built in the 16TH century. One of its jewels are Del Rosario and Pompeya Chapels, you will be
able to visit the interior of the church as well as the domes, where a
spectacular view of the city can be admired.
After visiting Santo Domingo, you will stroll down La Ronda, a typical colonial
street. Its balconies have made of La Ronda one of the most representative places of downtown Quito.
Arrive to the Alabado Museum where a permanent pre-Columbian exhibit is
available to understand the Andean cosmovision from three different perspectives.
Continue to the San Francisco Plaza and church, also known as the “Escorial
de los Andes”, visit the interior of the church and admire the details in the
walls and ceilings of this catholic temple. Learn about the Cantuña legend and
visit the Chapel.
Next stop will be to one of the most beautiful pieces of baroque art in the
city, La Compañia church. Its beautifully decorated gold interior will amaze
you.
Our final stop will be at Plaza de la Independencia, where the most important
buildings of the city can be observed: Palacio de Carondelet, the Cathedral,
the old Archbishop’s Palace and the Mayor´s Office.
Continue your tour to the Middle of the World & Pululahua.
Pululahua is a calm and isolated crater very close to Quito. Every afternoon
this cauldron is covered with a white coat of clouds that arrive from the Pacific
coast. This is the only protected area of the country under the category of
“Geobotanical Reserve” due to the rich flora that grows on its slopes.
Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant located at the edge of this crater and enjoy the view while savoring the flavors of our cuisine.

The name Ecuador is a result of the visit of the Geodesic Mission in the 18th
century. This mission came to the Reino de Quito in order to measure the
latitude and define the shape of the earth. During this mission, it was
established that the earth was round and that the “middle of the world” was in our country.
Today we will visit the Inti Ñan Museum, where we will explain a bit more the
history of this Mission and also learn about the natural forces that are located
in the middle of the world.
Return to Quito.
