GRAND PRIX OF NATIONSWho can participate?- Choirs that have 870 or more points on the current MUSICA MUNDI World Ranking List (List available at Interkultur.com)- Choirs worldwide that have been awarded a Gold Medal with at least 85.00 points at the World Choir Games since 2014- Choirs that have been awarded a Golden Diploma with at least 23.00 points at the INTERKULTUR choir competitionssince 2014- Choirs that have received a recommendation diploma for the Grand Prix of Nations in a previous INTERKULTUR event- Choirs that have received a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize in national or international choir competitions, or an evaluation comparableto the Golden Diploma of the INTERKULTUR choir competitions since 2014 (The competition must be recognized bythe Artistic Committee and a copy of the certificate must be submitted with the registration.).- Choirs that have been delegated by national and provincial cultural ministries or national and provincial choral associations. (An official letter of delegation must be submitted with the registration.)- Choirs that have been delegated by a member of the World Choir Council- Choirs that have qualified for the Grand Prix of Nations in the Open Competition with a golden diploma with at least23.00 pointsWhat awards are there?“WINNER OF THE GRAND PRIX OF NATIONS GOTHENBURG 2019” in each category- bronze, silver and gold medals according to the international 100 point evaluation system of INTERKULTUR

• Specific repertoire prescriptions for each class of participation
• Event package include accommodation package of three (3) nights minimum. The package includes hotel accommodation in B&B, half board or full board, the entrance to all the events organized during the event (concerts, competitions) and the possibility to take advantage of all the discounts offered by our partners (museums, leisure parks, restaurants…)

This premiere Choirs Connect Festival is part of a 2 series event. The Choirs Connect
Gospel festival engage choirs and singers, both locally and internationally, in gospel choral
music, the most popular genre in South Africa. We combine amateur singers with professional
groups to stimulate development in a fun collaborative way with a distinct tourism angle to
experience the area.

• Highlight end to the CHORAL CELEBRATION NETWORK annual
events
• Concerts will take place in Lyric Theatre at Goldreef City
• Up to 550 singers can participate.
• Mostly choirs but limited individual singers with proven choral
experience can register
• Sight seeing will be in and around Soweto and Lion Park
• Event include rehearsal sessions, outreach visits, sight seeing in the
area as well as a workshop with the Soweto Gospel Choir on
performing Gospel Music
• The Soweto Gospel Choir will be the anchor choir for this event
• Two full concerts will be presented: Saturday evening and Sunday
afternoon.
• The Sunday morning will be a special Mass for Peace in the Regina
Mundi Church in Soweto

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONSThe non-refundable registration fee of a choir: 1 contest category makes 200 EUR, each nextone contest category makes 150 EUR. • Sight-seeing will be in the Cape Winelands – Franschoek Wine Tram:
tasting wines of the region and Cape Town sights like Table
Mountain, etc
• Event include rehearsal sessions, outreach visits, sight seeing in the
area as well as a workshop with the composer & ‘professional’ group
we use as anchor choir
• The Anchor choir for the Classics event is the Cape Town Opera Choir
• The orchestra the Cape Town Philharmonic orchestra
• Two full concerts will be presented: Saturday evening or Sunday
afternoon.
• Sunday will offer a unique informal choir festival on Robben Island

HOW DO I QUALIFY?You indicate your intent to be part of the event by e-mailing us with your preferred dates.We apply and provide reference on your behalf to be invited to the event

• Performances in the magnificent Cattolica Queen’s Theatre (Teatro della Regina),
• A concert at the medieval town St. Leo
• Opening concert in Rimini for choirs that choose this option.
• Non-competitive performances at the Teatro della Regina are scheduled on the same days as the Competition.
• Event offers the opportunity to stay on the Adriatic Coast, in particular on the beach of Cattolica, renowned throughout the world for its fine sand and for the quality of its waters that has made it possible, for the seventeenth time, the assignment of the ‘blue flag’.
• The music programme is completely free, there are not compulsory pieces requested and there is no preclusion for periods and genres.
• The variety of places selected for the performances, the numerous events and the extremely rich repertoire make this Festival not only one of the most spectacular international choral festivals but also a unique opportunity of mutual and fruitful exchange between different musical cultures.

24 - 28 SEPTEMBER 2020
• This unique homegrown international choral event allowing local choirs to plan an exceptional tour for their choir in South Africa.
• The Premiere event is hosted at Sun City from 24 –28 September 2020.
• This International Choir Competition will adjudicated by local and international jurors, with the highlight the crowning of the Choir of the Continent with a price money of R50,000-00 to the winning choir
• A full International Conductors Symposium will also be presented to conductors who cannot bring their choirs to perform. This will also be the first meeting of the Association of African Choral Conductors/Directors
• The Sing & Safari experience implies that all choirs will go on a Game Drive in the Famous Pilansberg National Park where the Big 5 roams as part of the overall programme
• Space will be limited to 50 - 60 choirs - so jump to ensure your choir is included
24 - 28 September 2020
• A special conductors conference aimed at providing opportunities for conductors from South Africa and Africa to meet, share and network
• Event is hosted at Sun City from 20 – 24 September 2019 as part of the ICC.
• Workshop facilitators will be sourced from around the world
• The theme for the Music of the Continents Choral Conducting Conference 2019 is: Choral Music as a tool to embrace Cultural Diversity.
• This will also be the first meeting of the Association of African Choral Conductors/Directors
• Conductors will be provided with a pass to the ICC to allow them to attend performances by choirs from around the world
