Sew an assorted print 3¼” x 8¾” rectangle to the top and bottom of Unit A to create a Square-in-a-Square Center. Repeat to make 9 Square-in-a-Square Centers.

Refer to the quilt photo for fabric placement. Sew 8 assorted print 3¼” squares and 1 gold roll call 3¼” square together to create a Nine-Patch Center. Repeat to make 7 Nine-Patch Centers.

Sew a slate shade triangle to each side of a gold plaid or white dots 31/2” square to create a Triangle Unit. Repeat to create 64 Triangle Units (32 gold plaid and 32 white dots).

Referring to the quilt photo for Triangle Unit placement, sew 2 Triangle Units to opposite sides of a Square-in-a-Square Center or Nine-Patch Center. Press. Sew 2 Triangle Units to the remaining sides to create the Toucan Block. Repeat to create 16 Toucan Blocks.

Quilt Center AssemblySee quilt photo for Toucan Block placement. Lay out blocks in 4 rows of 4 blocks. Sew rows together to complete the center of the quilt.

BordersSeam allowances vary so measure through the center of the quilt before cutting border pieces. Sew side borders first.

Border 1Side borders should be 47½”. Top and bottom borders should be 53½”.

Border 2Side borders should be 53½”. Top and bottom borders should be 65½”.

Finish quilt by layering the quilt top, batting, and back. Bind with your favorite Riley Blake fabric from the Life in the Jungle Collection. Have fun with your colors and enjoy the journey of making your quilt.
