BECOMING THE WORLD’S LEADING MULTI-PURPOSE PORT OPERATOR

KINGSTON WHARVES (KW) STRATEGIC PLANS FOR EXPANSION have been designed to strengthen the company’s base as a world-class terminal operator as well as provide the infrastructure and platform for the diversification of our logistics & warehousing services. The initiatives that will cement our position as the Caribbean’s best multi-purpose port and set us on the pathway to becoming a Lead Logistics Provider have been divided into three phases. Our Free Zone designation by the Government of Jamaica and proposed transition to a Special Economic Zone represent critical elements of our strategy and ensures we are well placed to play a leading role in Jamaica’s development into a global logistics hub.

TOTAL LOGISTICS COMPLEXA 160,000 square foot intelligently designed warehouse housing integrated KW customer service support and customs processing – in effect a one stop logistics and warehousing solution operating 24 hours daily; 7 days per week. In addition to relocating our current on-dock warehouses, the facility will enable our entry into supply chain management, manufacturing, order fulfillment and other demand based areas. EQUIPMENT ACQUISITIONAs we also prepare for the completion of the widening of the Panama Canal and the larger classes of vessels through Kingston, we intend to add 2 Post Panamax Gantry Cranes to our equipment fleet. RECONFIGURATION OF CONTAINER YARDOn-dock support buildings will be demolished allowing for the relocation of our domestics and transshipment car parks. These activities combined will allow for a further optimization of the layout of the KW Container Yard.

TERMINAL REHABILITATIONCoupled with the expanded locks in the Panama Canal, we also expect the new activity in our Total Logistics Complex to drive throughput to the Kingston Wharves terminal. To ensure our capacity meets demand, a major harbour dredging exercise will take our berthing facility to the 15.24ft in depth required by post-panamax class vessels as well as expand and rehabilitate our container yard.

MODULAR WAREHOUSE SPACEKingston Wharves will facilitate joint venture partnerships in the occupancy of modular warehouse space, sized at a minimum of 10,000 square foot to manufacturers, distributors and logistics services providers.

INSTALLATION OF CRANE RAILSThe acquisition of addition post-panamax handling equipment through the installation of additional gantry crane rails.

DEMAND DRIVEN EXPANSIONWe will continue to expand our port boundary and free zone foot print will augmenting our equipment fleet with modern and efficient equipment. By 2019 and having accomplished the benchmarks set for our operations Kingston Wharves will accomplish its overarching vision of handling One Million TEUs per annum.
