However,withthegreatadvancesinmaterialsandmachining capabilities, the questionwasposed,whywerecompaniesusingdecadesoldtechnologywhenabetter,stronger,andmore reliable design could be used? A new,revolutionaryconceptwasquicklysketchedonthebackofanapkinandanewPatentwasborn.Fromthisinnovativeand revolutionary patent, Penn is proud to introduce atrulyuniquereeldesign, an IntegratedSidePlate. DESIGNTraditionalbridgedesignsdonotlendthemselvesfavorably to high-speed gearing as the increasedload tends to distort and misalign the gearstud. Some companies “manufactured” slop intotheirgearstuds,allowingthegearstudtosemi-float and maintain some alignment, or is thatmisalignment,withthepinionasloadandpressureincreased. With the ISP design, high-speed gearsand pinions are unaffected by force and load,thereby maintaining perfect alignment with thepinionregardlessofthepressuresexertedonthereel. The patented Integrated Side Plate designallowsforanoversized,superhigh-speedgearforauniquecombinationofpowerandspeed.
