“It never really bothered me that I’d never met

my mum. It never occurred to me I needed to

meet her to ‘find out who I was’, as it didn’t seem

likely I’d discover I was someone different to who

I thought I was. But after the birth of my own son,

I realised it’s quite an event to have a child, and

she may well remember giving birth to me, and

maybe even the adoption.”

Claire Jones is an internationally renowned harpist. Her album

Girl with a Golden Harp topped the Classical charts in 2012

and made her a household name. Since then she’s been on a

long and winding journey of recovery from ME. Her most recent

album entitled Journey, was inspired by her experiences and

understanding of music as a core element of sustaining wellbeing.

This evening is full of stirring harp music drawn from classical

melodies and orchestral repertoire, film scores and the cannon of

British folk songs. It is the soundtrack to Claire’s own journey to

wellness and includes music to relax and unwind, and some to lift

the spirits high.

Join Claire and her musical guests for an evening of

sweeping melodies and virtuosic harp playing as she

shares with you the music of her healing journey.

Funny, heart-breaking and human, The

Best Thing is the latest touring production

from Vamos Theatre, the UK’s leading full

mask theatre company. Set in the 1960s,

the show tells the story of seventeen year-

old Susan, growing up during the changing

times of the decade. A bittersweet story

of mistaken morals and broken hearts,

45s and beehives, the production looks at

what the sexual revolution really meant for

young people living through it. Humorous

and poignant, The Best Thing features

1960s music and design, and is

a chance to see the highest

quality full mask theatre.

This year Haverfordwest Operatic

Society will be performing Follies, a musical

by Stephen Sondheim that won 7 Tony

awards when it premiered on Broadway in

1971. The show has enjoyed a number of

major revivals and several of its songs have

become standards, including Broadway Baby,

I’m Still Here and Too Many Mornings. The

music varies from Vaudeville comic to the

George Gershwin style ballad Losing My Mind

- a song made famous by Liza Minnelli when

it reached number 6 in the UK charts in 1989.

This great musical reflects the showgirl

styles of the thirties and forties complete

with fabulous costumes and

wonderful dance routines.

Inspiring and moving, Belonging is a powerful new play

that follows the lives of two families as they discover that

love and laughter doesn’t stop with the diagnosis of dementia.

This production is based on Re-Live’s in-depth interviews with people living with

dementia, family members and professional carers. Belonging dispels the myths

of dementia and shines a light on how a dementia-friendly Wales can be created

just by being yourself, being in the moment… belonging.

“Belonging takes us inside the experiences of people living with dementia.

It enlightens, challenges and entertains all at the same time. Prepare for

some myth busting!” - Mark Jones, Dementia Care Advisor, The Younger Onset

Dementia Service, Cardiff

A brand new play written by Karin Diamond and directed by Peter Doran

(Grav, Who’s Afraid of Rachel Roberts?, Oh Hello!), Belonging will tour

nationwide during May and June 2016.’

It’s Christmas Eve in Paris. A young poet, an artist and

a philosopher are celebrating in their flat. Then comes

a knock at the door, a lost key and an accidental touch

of cold hands in the dark, and so begins one of the

greatest romances of all opera.

From the irrepressible joy of their burgeoning love

affair through to the unbearable heartbreak at their

separation by death, only the stoniest of hearts could

fail to be moved by this timeless story – whether you’re

watching for the first or the 31st time.

Sung in English this production is set in war torn 1940’s

Paris, just after the end of the war and the German

occupation. With lovely vintage costumes designed by

Gabriella Ingram it will be performed by some of the

finest singers and orchestral players in the country.
