    1. Select your site, on our patch we workon a 5m by 5m grid to allow appropriate

    space for root and branch development

    2. Dig a trench from you last mound insequence to facilitate keeping your

    19mm poly pipe irrigation below ground

    3. Select your site for digging over, workon a 2m by 2m area to minimise

    competition from weeds and allow for

    better root development and drainage

    4. Grab some gypsum if you have clayeysoil, I apply approx. 1.5 bags to a 4m

    area. Gypsum addition will improve soil

    structure, drainage and water availability

    5. Dig over the area where you areplanning on planting and spread

    gypsum. Dig to 0.10m

    6. Dig a 0.5 by 0.5m hole to a depth ofapprox. 0.3 to 0.5m at the centre of the

    dug are

    7. Emplace a starpicket next to the hole tosecure the plant to and also attach ag

    drainage pipe

    8. Wrap some ag pipe in a spiral motiondown to the bottom of the hole and

    secure to the starpicket with cable ties,

    more gypsum in the hole

    9. Add some organic fertilizer to the holebase

    10.Fill the hole with approximately 40 to 50Lof water

    11.Spread cardboard around the hole andover the area dug over in step 6

    12.Mix some organic rich fertilizer with abarrow load of good quality soil

    13.Backfill the hole you dug earlier with one barrow load of soil then add a further 4 barrowloads of soil onto the cardboard emplaced in step 11. Soil utilised should have approximatelythe same consistency and fertilizer ratio that was used in step 12 above.

    14.Spread good organic fertilizer over thetop of the mound you have constructed

    15.Use a fork to thoroughly turn thefertilizer into the mound. You should aim

    to dig the mound down to a depth of

    approximately 0.3m

    16.Dig a well at the top of the mound and fill with water till it will take no more, approx. 50Lused here. This may seem like a lot of water however the more utilised at this stage the

    better the quality of the final planting and the greater the chance that you tree will survive

    to live, thrive and give you great production in the years ahead

    17.Grab your tree for plantout which youhave soaked overnight in a mix of

    rainwater to worm farm leachate at a

    ratio of 10 to 1. This will minimise plant

    stress and ensure better initial root

    development

    18.Pour the remainder of the rainwater andwork farm leachate into the hole.

    19.Gently remove the tree from the pot,tease out its roots and emplace central

    in the hole .

    20.Backfill with soil so top of soil ball is atthe same level as the mound top. Water

    in thoroughly

    21.Attach info tags to the star picket 22.Your completed and planted tree

    23.Cover the mound with a good qualityweed free mulch, for most of my

    plantings I choose to utilise sugar cane

    mulch

    24.Tree now mulched down

    25.Stretch out some 13mm brown polypipe and cut to approximately 10m in

    length.

    26.Cut your 13mm brown poly pipe weeperhose.

    27.Grab a 13mm end plug and a 13mmclamp

    28. Install the end plug at the end of theweeper hose and clamp off

    29.Attach a 19mm to 13mm reducing teeonto your 19mm poly pipe main delivery

    lines and then clamp off the 13mm poly

    pipe

    30.Run you 13mm poly pipe in a spiralpattern around your mound to ensure

    effective and efficient watering

    31.For deeper watering you want to run a4L/hr slow weeper down the ag pipe

    line you put in earlier

    32.Emplace a small hole into your 19mmblack poly pipe.

    33.Put a 4mm double ended barbed pluginto hole

    34. Install 4mm black poly flexible hose ontthe other end of the barbed plug

    35.Put a 4L/Hr slow weeper onto the otherend of the 4mm flexible poly line

    36.Drop the slow weeper down the ag pipeto facilitate deep soil watering and

    encourage deeper root development

    37. Install further 4L/hr slow weepers directinto the 13mm brown poly pipe. Dig a

    small fertilizer well under each weeper

    38.Test that all weepers are working andhave effective flow

    39.Completed mound bar mulching downover the top of weeper hose

    40.Pack up all equipment used during theinstall process

    41.Mulch down the mound with furthersugar cane mulch to maintain better

    moisture levels in the soil

    42.Crack a cold beverage of choice andenjoy your new addition. Never choose

    bad beer.
