Topic lesson 8 – Design a company logo and name Today your task is to create a company name and a logo to go with it. Before we get started, make a quick mindmap of all the companies you already know. Think about toy companies (Lego and Barbie), food companies (McDonalds and Mr Kipling), gadget companies (Apple and Sony) and shops (Starbucks and B&M) to get you started. Go! Now use the internet to research some of the different companies that you came up with and their logos and answer these questions in your book:

1. Which three companies do you think have the best logos? Why? What do they have in common? What is different about them?

2. List 5 features that make a good logo. 3. Which three companies do you think have the best name? Why? What do they have

in common? What is different about them? 4. What sort of company do you want our year 5 company to be? Write 5 words that

come to mind. 5. Use these words and ideas you’ve collected to now come up with your own company

name and draw your own logo to go with it. You may use pens, pencils, paints or any other medium to draw your logo. You could even create your logo on a drawing app on your phone, tablet or computer.
