Topcon developed the onboard 3D mobile mapping system IP-S2 series by combining various sensors with GNSS technology to measure and image surrounding objects with high precision. The IP-S2 Standard/Standard+ acquires high definition shapes to create point cloud data while simply driving down the road. The IP-S2 Lite utilizes an onboard 360° camera and minimal IMU (inertial measurement unit) sensors to acquire 360° video along the route driven.

Topcon developed this revolutionary layout tool by focusing on the layout work which occupies many phases of the construction process. The LN-100 is very easy to set up, and makes operation simple and intuitive using smartphone or tablet technology as a controller.The LN-100 fits seamlessly into BIM workflow, making layout more precise and productive.

Recently OCT imaging technology has been significant developed

and improved. OCT, which visualizes the retinal cross sectional

structure by utilizing a broad-band light wavelength echo, enables

non-contact and non-invasive observation of the retina in vivo.

OCT has become one of the essential diagnostic tools in today’s

ophthalmic routine care. The first generation of OCT was Time-

Domain OCT. However, in 2006, Topcon was the first in the world

to introduce Spectral Domain OCT which realized dramatically

faster and higher-sensitivity scanning. Topcon has continued to

focus on OCT technology to achieve faster scanning speed and

to simplify image capture and simple operation. In 2012, Topcon

achieved fully automated fundus photography plus OCT using an

intuitive touch screen control panel, with “3D OCT-1 Maestro”.

With the introduction of the easily navigated Maestro, Topcon will

greatly expand its business domain to the eye disease screening

and prognostic segments.

In 2006, Topcon was the first in the world to introduce ophthalmic Spectral Domain OCT, and since then it

has accomplished a remarkable evolution. Topcon will lead all competitors in the field of OCT, expanding

Prolonged exposure to harmful effects blue light in the workplace, the increasingly aging population, increased

vision impairment rates of caused by systemic disease, and diseases of the eye have become more prevalent

throughout the world. Early-stage diagnosis and treatment are especially important for “glaucoma”, “diabetic

retinopathy” and “age-related macular degeneration”, the 3 major causes of blindness. In addition, the ocular

fundus is the only part of the body where the microcirculation can be observed directly. Eye examinations have

A 5-in-1 functional instrument that provides refractometry, keratometry , topography, aberrometry, and pupil diameter measurement.

The CT-1/CT-1P takes automated operation to a new level. Simply touch the center of the pupil on the touch screen control panel and it automatically measures the intraocular pressure and the pachymetry for both eyes.

Topcon developed the world’s first OCT that captures and provides retinal layer images in 3D. The instrument significantly enhanced the quality of retinal disease diagnosis.

Slit lamp, that is called, “ophthalmic stethoscope” provides images thorough the anterior segment to the fundus.

Major Diseases Causing Blindness

GlaucomaThe disease characteristically affects the optic nerve and visual field, resulting in gradual visual field loss. There are rarely any symptoms in the early stages of this feared disease that it may lead to blindness if left untreated. Diagnosing of glaucoma requires more than several examinations, including measurement of the intraocular pressure, fundus examination and visual field examination.

Age-Related Macular DegenerationThe disease is an age-related abnormality in the macula, the central area of the retina, and symptoms include distorted vision and central scotomas. AMD is one of the leading causes for blindness in the US and developed countries in Europe, and is increasingly becoming common in Japan as well. Retinal detachment is also one of the underlying causes for blindness among retinal diseases.

CataractCataract is opacity of the crystalline lens. Symptoms of this disease include vision loss, blurriness, double or triple vision, and glaring from light. Day care cataract surgery has been made possible following the technological advancements in artificial intraocular lens, surgical equipment and surgical technique.

Functional coating

Various functional coating solutions are developed originating from accumulated relevant design technologies applied to Topcon's products. Optical thin filmTopcon uses the vacuum deposition method(ion application), plasma CVD and other film technologies to develop optical thin films from wide wavelength range.

Highly reliable 3D measurements made possible using distance measuring technologies cultivated over many years, and angle measurement systems that leverage advanced digital technologies.These technologies are employed in a wide range of fields from industrial to displacement measuring instruments.

GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)The GNSS system, based on Topcon’s proprietary Vanguard™ technology, features multi-constellation satellite support with Universal Tracking technology to allow each channel to receive any available satellite signal. This assures high-speed, high-precision positioning with centimeter or better accuracy. Topcon GNSS systems are used in a wide range of applications, from surveying and construction to civil engineering and agriculture.

OCT ( 3D Optical Coherence Tomography )

This technology allows for the immediate reconstruction of the retinal layer structure, using high-speed tomography of 100,000 A-Scans/second. This makes it possible to observe choroidal thickness using 3D imaging. OCT technology facilitates high-sensitivity imaging from anterior to posterior, high-speed, wide-range scanning, and effective noise reduction.

3D imaging measurementThis technology enables high-precision, high-speed 3D positioning, surface measuring and modeling using a digital camera. Topcon technology was used in the development of a three-dimensional, 360 degree data and image acquisition system for automobiles that gather geographical data of the surrounding area as it is driven down roads or over other areas.

To fulfill our CSR obligations in accordance with the “TOPCON WAY”, Topcon Code of Business Conduct and the 10 principles of the Global Compact, the Topcon group shares the basic policy and the CSR organization. Based on the basic policy for CSR, Topcon group offers products and

services that will help address social challenges. At the same time, Topcon group attaches great importance to communications with its stakeholders and endeavors to make social contributions through its business activities.

Education Support Program

Continued support to free eye exams

Topcon Positioning Systems, Inc. and Topcon Europe group offered the most advanced Topcon products for surveying and optometry courses at Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland. We set up “Topcon Lab” as part of our education support programs. Topcon group has carried out education support programs over the years and provided support for more than 500 schools worldwide.

Topcon Medical Systems, Inc. continued to participate in “OneSight,”a charitable program hosted by Luxottica. Topcon offered vision testers and dispatched employees as volunteer staffs to the Fresh Air Fund Camp (an event which invited more than 17,000 disadvantaged children to summer camp and provided free eye exams and glasses).

We donated eye examination equipment to Ministry of Health, Myanmar to help solve the shortage of health care workers and medical equipment. In particular, 3D OCT-1 Maestro allows for auto shoot without skills and experience and contributes to solving such problems. The equipment is planned to be installed at major public university hospitals through the Ministry.In addition, We donated surveying instruments -Total Stations and Auto Levels- to Yangon Technological University, Myanmar.
