#his snorkeling spot in Maui has something that not many others do' one of the densest

populations of (awaiis beloved sea turtle. $ocated on the southern coast of Maui, between

)ahuna *oint and Block Sand Beach, #urtle #own is home to many varieties of fish and sea life,

but its the turtles that people come to see. +ts an ama&ing opportunity to encounter these large,

graceful creatures up close. #his snorkeling spot is a good one for families with children or

beginners.

#3 Five Caves

snorkelers and scuba divers. +ts -uite a swim from the beach, so is recommended only for those

at an intermediate or better level, but its well worth the swim, with abundant sea life and plenty of

underwater caves and swimthroughs. $ocated south of Wailea on Makena /oad, the beach is

not visited heavily and has no facilities.

#4 Olowalu

#his Maui snorkeling area is a favorite for its accessibility and acres of coral reef. +ts about ten

miles south of $ahaina on (wy. 01 and almost any spot off of the beach is a good one for

snorkeling. #he water is shallow and calm for -uite a way out. #his makes it a good snorkeling

choice for beginners on their own or for those that havent snorkeled in a while.

"oral 2ardens is located in the center of the western Maui coast. !ne of the things its known for

is its ama&ing coral formations as well as its huge population of colorful fish. Between %ecember

and pril, you may even be fortunate enough to spot a humpback whale. "oral 2ardens is

recommended only for more advanced snorkelers, as its -uite a swim from the beach, located

near *ali.

#6 !i!i "eanau eserve

$ocated south of Wailea, the hihi 3eanau /eserve is a great place to spend a day of snorkeling

on Maui. #he bay itself is a good place to get used to snorkeling if you havent done it before and

there are plenty of good spots all along the beach, so this is a good snorkeling destination for

families. #he beach is rocky and there are no facilities here, so be prepared.

$ocated in front of the 3ea $ani (otel, between Wailea and Makena, this is a sandy beach with

good facilities, making it a favored spot for families who want to spend some time relaxing on the

beach as well as get in some good snorkeling in Maui.

t the north end of 3aanapali, 3ahekili Beach *ark4also known as irport Beach5 is another good

snorkeling area for families, as the beach is sandy, the water is calm and there are facilities

available. #he abundance of coral reef makes it a popular spot for scuba and snorkeling

instruction as well.

Black rock is more of a wall dive than snorkeling spot. +ts a lava outcropping with plenty of

attached coral, making it a uni-ue spot for beginner to intermediate divers and snorkelers. +t can

get rough and murky if there are some good swells, so use caution. +ts also a nice sandy beach

with -uite a bit of parking and good facilities available.

(onolua Bay is considered one of the best snorkeling beaches in Maui, but you do have to get

there in a good day, as swells can make the water too murky and a bit rough for snorkeling. #his

is a marine reserve, so there are plenty of colorful fish and occasionally a few turtles show up as

well. #he beach is smooth rock, so its not the best place for a day at the beach if you want to do

anything other than snorkel. #his location also has no facilities, so bring what you need.
