TOP TEN 2014 - RULES
Citation preview
Dear Exhibitor, BTS Informa and Comexposium, organizers of ExpoVinis Brasil, are pleased to invite you to take part in “Top Ten 2014”, the most important wine competition in the Americas. “Top Ten” recognises the quality of the wines produced all over the world and offers to those that take part in the competition the opportunity of having their wine recognized by famous experts. This recognition adds value, generates spontaneous media coverage and, as a consequence, generates business. ExpoVinis Brasil’s Top Ten is coordinated by wine specialists, Jorge Lucki and José Ivan Santos. Top Ten 2014’s jury will be composed of the following members:
1. Jorge Carrara (Prazeres da Mesa magazine and Basilico website) 2. José Maria Santana (Gosto magazine) 3. José Luiz Borges Alvin (ABS – SP) 4. Ricardo Farias (ABS – Rio) 5. Marcio Oliveira (SBAV-MG and Vinoticias) 6. José Luiz Pagliari (SBAV – SP and Senac-SP) 7. Manoel Beato (Head sommelier at Fasano Restaurant) 8. Celito Guerra (Embrapa – RS) 9. TOP TEN 2014 – RULES AND METHODOLOGY
Top Ten 2014 is exclusively reserved to ExpoVinis Brasil 2014 exhibitors
Registration will be available online from January, 06 , 2014 until March 7th, 2014
Each exhibitor will be able to submit 2 of its labels.
The samples sent by the participants must fit the following categories, which have been defined according to the
Brazilian market.
1. Brazilian Sparkling Wine 2. Imported Sparkling Wine 3. Brazilian White Wine 4. Imported White Wine 5. Rosé Wine 6. Brazilian Red Wine 7. New World Red Wine 8. Old World Red Wine (I) * 9. Old World Red Wine (II) ** 10. Fortified and Sweet Wine
*: Includes wines from the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal)
**: Incudes wines from Italy, France and other old world countries
Members of the jury will be divided into 2 groups (6 people each) and all samples will first be individually and blindly
tasted. Instead of defining the arithmetic average and handing in their notes, the tasters, coordinated by the table’s
president, will then discuss the criteria adopted by each one, thereby eliminating any possible flaws in interpretation
and allowing a fair result by consensus.
In the first phase the samples received in each category will be divided between the 2 tables and the 3 best wines will
be selected. The 6 best wines will then be tasted again on the following day by all jury members, to select the winner.
Tastings will start on Friday (April 11TH, 2014) at 9 a.m., will continue on Saturday (April 12TH, 2014) and, if needed, on
Sunday (April 13TH, 2014).
In order to take part in “Top Ten 2014” exhibitors must submit 2 sample bottles of each wine enrolled. If exhibitors
send fewer than the necessary number of bottles, they will be automatically disqualified.
Each wine must be accompanied by a technical sheet that includes the following information. (These are necessary in
order to be able to disclose the wines better during the Premium Tastings and on the ExpoVinis Brasil website).
- Wine name
- Vintage
- Color
- Region
- Denomination
- Caste(grapes)
- Alcoholic Strength
- Category
Sign up through the website.
After filling the form, please send the generated report with the two samples by mail.

World, I Old World and II Old Word) must be available, for they will take part in another Premium Tasting during
ExpoVinis Brasil. As the winners will not be announced before ExpoVinis, it is very important that each participant
includes these additional bottles in his initial shipment for the ExpoVinis Brasil.

The deadline for the “Top Ten” bottles to arrive at BTS Informa Brazil is the 4TH of April, 2014.
