Grand Wood Park specialises in table top pieces but as Show Room Assistant David Yeo explains, these are no ordinary table tops. All major pieces on display come from Myanmar and are made of Burmese teak wood and rosewood. According to David, “Many different types of wood exist in the market but quality-wise, Burmese teak is world-recognized”. However, due to conservation efforts in Myanmar, such wood is becoming increasingly rare. David explains that “you won’t be able to import the big pieces anymore. There are now measures put in place to limit the cutting of trees and the Government is encouraging planting. You have to let the trees grow and they may take one hundred years or so to mature”.

True to its name, Grand Wood Park at Block 18 is, quite liter-ally, a ‘grand’ display of various wood-pieces that adorn the walls and occupy the showroom floor.
The process of making a single table top takes at least a month and involves cutting, finishing, varnishing and coating, with a different specialist overseeing each stage of production. David explains that the main specialist responsible for cutting and touching up all table tops has over 30 years of experience and works with the same team on all the pieces.

Any visitor passing by unit #08-32 at Block 18 will no doubt be intrigued by the interior of this showroom. The unit is home to Mad Petz Aquatic Supply, which spe-cialises in marine aquariums. Founder and Director Ken Yeo has channelled his training as an Interior designer into becoming a specialist in designing and setting up fish tanks for both residents and corporate customers. As Ken explains, “fish tanks are also part of the interior design. We consider the aesthetics and the concept theme so that the tank blends into the rest of the interior, rather than sticking out as an afterthought. We then design and build the whole tank and system inside”.

Grand Wood Park caters to Designers and Architects who often recommend home buyers looking for one-of-a-kind tables to consider certain unique pieces. The showroom also receives walk-in customers and David explains that their customer base is broad, ranging from newlyweds to older couples.
Who would Grand Wood Park recommend their pieces to? David thoughtfully pauses before he replies, “We recommend the pieces to anyone looking for something special. These are more than just regular table tops, they encourage people to come together and sit around them and they last for generations”.
The core of Mad Petz’s retail business currently focuses on online orders from customers around the world. Although they do not yet provide fish and coral, they supply water filtrations, rocks, food, vitamins, amino acids, and quite literally the entire package required to enhance and sustain life in a tank.
Ken further explains that as technology evolves, even small tanks can suc-cessfully provide environments suitable for sustaining fish and coral for long periods of time. “It’s less about the size of the tank and more about the tech-nology, the care, love and passion that you put into the aquarium. It’s all about the whole eco system” explains Ken.Indeed, emphasis on the ‘eco system’ seems to be the key word at Mad Petz. Ken highlights the importance of a co-existing system as he outlines the educational aspects of fish tanks: “an aquarium is an eco system. It has amazingeducational value as it teaches our children how to take care of living things, the importance of co-balancing, the nitrogen cycle and how the whole aquarium is a system made up of different parts”. In addition, Mad Petz quite rightly points out that despite traditionally being labelled a ‘man’s hobby’, keeping fish should be seen as a family activity. Ken explains that “in reality, most of the time the whole family is involved and they share opinions, tasks and decisions”. A Sea of Spider Webs invade Australian FieldsResidents of Australia’s agricultural city Wagga Wagga have experienced the extraordinary power of nature as a sea of spider webs covered entire fields, enveloping everything in sight and creating a landscape of woven silk.
The phenomenon occurred after floods caused residents to flee their homes and millions of spiders began weaving a complex system of webs to keep away from rising tides and help them escape the water.
Insect experts explain that this type of behavior is known as ‘ballooning’, usually performed to help spiders enter and ‘infiltrate’ new areas. Thanks to this intricate coping mechanism, experts further suggest that Australia’s spider population may have even increased despite the floods.
As part of an Easter celebration event, a team of bakers in the UK have set a new Guinness World Record for successfully baking the world’s largest hot-cross bun, beating a previous record set in South Africa.
Weighing an astonishing165kg and measuring over two meters, it was equivalent to the weight of 2300 regular-sized hot cross buns and required ten people to help transfer the bun to a specially-crafted oven.
According to Manager Stuar t Hart lebury, the bun was made the traditional way, using traditional ingredients and using over 65kg of flour. He claims the ‘process of making the bun was the most enjoyable, but achieving the world record was an accomplishment’.

Ingredients: 1 tbsp. pure Coconut Oil1 tbsp. Honey2 tsp. Brown Sugar
Usage: Rub the scrub on your lips for 60 seconds once a day and you’ll have kissable lips in no time.
Preparation:
Step 1: Combine semi-solid coconut oil with honey. Smash it and mix it all together with a metal spoon. The end result should be a really soft, thick butter.Step 2: Add in the brown sugar. Mix it together (without crushing the sugar) until all the parts are distributed equally.Step: 3: Add a tiny bit of melted coconut oil to the mixture to make it even more moisturizing.
