This fun dog and family friendly event will take place at the beautiful Chapungu Sculpture Park at the Promenade Shops at Centerra. Each animal that comes through the shelter doors has a unique story. Every year the calendar features 12 animals who have touched the hearts of the staff and volunteers in a special way. Through your sponsorship, you can help to tell their heartwarming stories, educating the community about the lifesaving care Larimer Humane Society provides. The photos and stories are then combined into a 12-month calendar to be unveiled in Fall 2019.

Puka had already been to Larimer Humane Society once before, and was probably wondering why she was being surrendered again when she was brought to us in late summer. With nowhere to call home, she had some problems with socialization and confidence. To help her, we put her in a cat colony, where she could learn how to interact with other cats and also have access to the outdoor “catio” that accompanies these special rooms. In addition, our Behavior and Enrichment staff gave Puka toys, paper bags to hide in, and blankets to snuggle with so that she could feel more comfortable with her surroundings.
When Puka’s adopters first came in, they were originally looking for a dog, but they were drawn to her sweet little face. They saw that she had been at Larimer Humane Society for over a month, and knew she really wanted to find a forever home. They decided to bring Puka home instead of a dog. Her new family calls her a “peaceful companion,” with her favorite pastimes being sleeping, talking a lot, and being a wonderfully easy-going friend.
