So for the first time in my life, I am making a top 20 list. This one specifically is my favorite games of all time. After watching several top 10 lists done by multiple youtubers, I must say I am inspired to follow their craft (minus all the fancy video making). Here are the rules:1. One per franchise, so one game doesnt dominate my list.2. Has to have replay value. 3. I had to have played and completed the game.4. Tie breakers go to games I have rebought or bought remakes of.5. Overall has to be funSo lets get started!20. Dragon Ball Z: Raging Blast 2 (PS3)

Im not the biggest fan of fighting games. That is until you throw one of my favorite animes in as a basis. DBZ was one of my favorite shows growing up, and I always wanted it to be a game. I mean what 6 year old wouldnt want to be a Super Sayian? Then DBZ Budikia was released. And I loved it at first. But soon it felt like a dry version of these intense battles. Only being able to fight in a liner pattern, and having to throw punches at the air to launch a Kahmahmaha wave just felt lame. But then the Raging Blast series was released. It would allow open world feeling battles, where you could go into the air at will. You could also use whatever move you wanted at any moment. This really gave you a true feeling of being a Z Fighter. This game falls so low because the one thing it lacked was the ability to play through the story I love so much. It has a version of it in galaxy mode, but trust me, it wasnt even close.

19. Lion King (Sega Genesis)

Thats right! A Disney movie game made this list. But hey, its the best Disney movie ever. As expected, it follows the story of the movie. You start off a cub Simba, and play through is troubled childhood up to the loss of his father. You then take over as adult Simba on his quest to reclaim Pride Rock. All gameplay is in side scroller format with pretty good and responsive controls. There was even an invisibility cheat code that helped me as a younger gamer. What gets this game on the list is my memories of spending rainy days just beating this game over and over again. What lowers it is that its a movie game.

18. Star Fox 64 (N64)

This game was just awesome to my 3 year old mind. I was able to take control of Fox McCloud and his R-Wing, Landmaster, or Blue Marine. In this rail shooter, you and your crew of soldiers for hire are called in to stop the army of the evil Andross. This game had tight controls, fun characters, and was smart enough to change up the gameplay enough to keep it feeling fresh. What made it so clever, was the way difficulty was controlled. Each mission had a secret or alternate path. If you took the beaten path, you played through easy. If you knew all the secrets, you accepted the big challenge. And there were multiple combinations in between. This allowed for different experiences with each play through and giving it a solid spot on this list.

17. NFL Street Vol. 2 (PS2/Gamecube/PSP)

This game is just bonkers. It took all the big name players of the NFL, and made then 2005 era gangsters (this includes the Manning brothers or later released two rap songs, so may its legit). The gameplay was solid, and a refreshing beak from your traditional Madden and NCAA. It was also welcoming to players who may like football, but not fully understand all the strategy. This game was all about stick skills. It dropped off 4 players and took the format of flag football. But trust me this game was much more brutal than you jr. high days of 2 hand shove. What makes this game nuts is being able to jump off walls, to juke a defended, catch a pass, or dive into the endzone. And more than once Ive seen a play happen that makes no sense, like a pass being batted multiple times for the QB to catch it, break 4 or 5 tackles, and take it in himself. All that would happen and you would be ok with it, because you could do it right back. This game also offered many game modes like street events (mini games), NFL gauntlet (beat every team), NFL challenge (an NFL tournament), and Own the city (career mode). This gave great ways to play the game as you saw fit.

16. Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master

Hands down the greatest side scroller I have ever played (sorry Metroid). You take control of Joe Musashi who must once again defeat the evil Neo Zeed. You have throwing knives, a katana, and multiple forms of ninjitzu to do this. And each and every one really makes you feel as if you are a ninja. Not on a scale, but even in todays standards, these controls are great. Time and time again I found myself playing this game over and over. Each level is totally different, and allows you to feel you are the only one who can stop this evil syndicate. What hurts it however, is how short it is. Average play time, start to finish, is about an hour. I would want about 2-4 more levels in this solid title

15. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (PSx)

In this wonky adventure, you retake control of everyones favorite marsupial to once again save your island by collecting crystals and gems over many different landscapes. Neo Cortex tells you he needs these jewels to save the day, but it turns out he wants to use them to destroy it. This game uses tight controls, tons of humor, and clever secrets to keep you playing for hours. You even get to ride on a baby polar bear! But artic animal abuse aside, there are enough different kinds of levels to keep it fresh, and actually making you want to complete 100% and as send to the rank of gaming legend and lore. This game is the strongest of its series, taking what made 1 great and adding to it. It was also more merciful then the first instalment. But it also avoided added too much flash as the third one did. What keeps it from being higher is that this game was noticeably less fun when playing alone. This game was great to play with a friend, and divide out levels to complete for the common goal of 100%.

14. Star Wars Battlefront 2

Do you enjoy having the ability to go on 40-60 kill streaks with little standing against you? Do you like doing that in different worlds? Well what if I could give you all that, and then make you a jedi? Luckily I dont have to, because this game already has. Another example of taking what the first one did and making it so much better. (Besides changing Ice caves which was my favorite level.) There are more classes to play as, a better more in depth campaign, a much more strategic galactic empire, and the ability to play as heroes and villains. They even have a multiplayer mode for only heroes vs. villains. This game spans across the entire 6 movie saga from the point of view from a republic commando turned stormtrooper in the 501st, and does so well. Even though the story itself isnt that shocking and new for any Star Wars fan, it is awesome being able to slaughter dozens of your foes. Add a friend and its a race to see who can get the most where the whole time you secretly wish they die so you can get a few freebies. This game is awesome, you can play as commandos/stormtroopers, rebels, or even droids. You can also pilot nearly every time of vehicle in this universe. What is holding it back though, is once again how big a difference there is in the level of fun between solo and multiplayer. The lack of campaign replay ability doesnt help its cause. Nor do the chore like space battles that should have been amazing.

13. 13. Devil May Cry 3: Dantes Awakening (PS2)

Nothing like hunting down demons for a living right? That's exactly what youdo as Dante the Son of Sparta. What makes 3 so cool is it's a prequel to allthe others, and your first case requires you to kill your brother and only livingrelative as king of demons, Sparta, and your human mother sacrificedthemselves to save you as children. But the way to do it is awesome. Youclimb through an insane castle that ignores earthly physics altogether andallows you to kill hordes of demons along the way.

This game follows the DMC suit. This game is rewardingly difficult and givesyou all the overpowering flash that you would come to know and love fromthis franchise. Back that with a pretty sweet soundtrack and it's a gunslinging, sword swinging, great demon-killing time.

3 gets the nod because 1 was lacking story depth and ended oddly. 2 madeyou so great that nothing felt like a challenge and was way way too short, andDMC: Devil May Cry turned Dante from an awesome arrogant demon withcold icy white hair, to an emo delinquent. Just as strong and cocky, but not ascool. What puts this game here is the nature of it. Even though this may be thegreatest hack and slash game, it's still a hack and slash game. They are fun,but can get dry if not balanced just right.

12. NCAA/Madden (Lots of consoles)

So maybe I'm cheating, but it's my list so I can do that. NCAA is the trueholder of this spot, but due to it being dead Madden gets to take over. That'sbecause this game is here due to it's spell on me. I spend $60 a year on newrosters. I know that and am totally ok with it.

These games do go up and down each year, but generally stay pretty good. What made then great was in the 06 edition, they added a career mode thatallowed you to be a super star. Madden did it better first by having you onlycontrol your player that NCAA quickly followed and eventually passedmadden.

What makes this not break top 10 is the fact that there's one each year, andmy interest does go up and down with it. I love sports and football especially. It just seems wrong to put a sports game in the top 10 since video games aresupposed to take me to an impossible world.

11. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

Anyone who remotely likes Indiana Jones will love the Uncharted series. Youplay as Nathan Drake. A self-proclaimed historian that stops for nothing or noone, and travels the world collecting parts of history and just generally beingawesome. This is a fun 3rd person shooter with some bare bones parcore(which I kind of prefer to the mirrors edge type par core).

This story is great. It's more a movie than game. But there are holes andrepeats. People always "die" to come back and save you in the last second. And in each cut scene that involves a standoff Drake "doesn't have what ittakes" to shoot the bad guy even though you gun down, beat up, and justgenerally murder hundreds of bad guys along the way.

10. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core (PSP)

This is a prequel to the ever famous Final Fantasy VII. You play as Zach whois part of the elite SOLIDER group that fight to keep the peace. You fightalongside your mentor Angel until he dies saving you and unveilingSOLIDER's true agenda. Thus you vow to stop them and take on the bestwarriors ever. How you do it is cool.

Instead of being traditional JRPG. It's more a mix of that and action. You runaround and have random encounters, then its more action based. What ismost unique is the slot machine that controls your limit breaks and level upsystem. This allows you to choose if random battles are worth avoiding orembracing.

**SPOILED ALERT**The reason this beats FF7 is it makes Cloud Strife looks like a punk. At theend Zach dies and passes on the Buster Sword to Cloud. Since he dies in amagic area plus the Buster Sword's magic, Cloud inherits Zach's strength, skills, memories, and even emotions. This is why Cloud loves Aris. BecauseZach did. This is why Cloud wants to defeat Sephoroth so badly, becauseZach did. So Cloud is only awesome because Zach was.

9. Operation Winback (N64)

In a time of national concern of terrorist attacks, video games commonly hadyou stopping some terrorist act. This statement holds true for OperationWinback. You play as Jean-Luke, an untested rookie who is part of an anti-terrorist attack force. On his first mission, things went wrong from the word go.Your means of entry via helicopter, was spotted and shot down causing yourteam to bail out and get spread out putting this green soldier having to learntrial by fire.

You seem to be the grim reapers aid as nearly each time you find I teammember, they're life is ended soon after. But hey, at least you found themright? This game was a fun game, and tried to compete with the likes of MetalGear Solid. Granted it's not that good, it's still a solid game. It takes place inthird person, and gives you a laser pointer instead of a cross hair cursor. Awise choice because it's more ascetically pleasing, and feels a bit more real. It's also the first game to my knowledge, that allows you to actually pressagainst a form of cover (wall, box, etc.) come out, take aim and fire atenemies, you can release the button and return to your safe haven. The bulkof your gunfights will take place like this, and it is done very well.

This game was what I played to compare to my older brother's anti-terroristgame in MGS. As I stated before it's not as good, but more than once he'dstop playing his game to ask to play mine.

8. Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age (GBA)

This is my favorite JRPG of all time. You play as the "bad guy" of Felix in thisone. 2 picks up literally right where the first Golden Sun ended where youplayed as Felix to save Sheba and prevent the 4 elements towers from beinglit and ending the world. You do so by controlling an adept of the fourelements; Earth, Fire, Wind, and Ice. You strengthen your party through thetraditional fighting and by collecting dinjin, which are creatures of the 4elements. Collect enough and you can unlock elemental summons.

This game only adds to the success of the success of the first installment. Itdoubles your party size allowing for more strategy, is longer than the first, increases the challenge, and holds true to what made the first one great. Alsobeing allowed to import your previous party to have all their stats and items isa nice touch too.

7. Kingdom Hearts (PS2)

In a game that took a chance by combining the worlds of Final Fantasy andDisney, you'll find yourself controlling Sora along either your companionsDonald and Goofy in your quest to find King Mickey and Sora's missingfriends. Along the way, you help different worlds and seal up keyholes tounlock the world and defeat the heartless that inhabit it.

This game uses solid gameplay through an action RPG format. It does a goodjob telling an admittedly confusing story, and actually getting you to careabout the characters and their outcomes no matter how old you are.

I have to admit, I hurt my own feelings keeping this game out of the top 5. Atone point, I labeled this game as my top favorite. What's causing it to fall is allthe spin-offs of the main story keep getting released. I find myself losingoptimism in the true 3rd game's release and therefore fading in interest. Butfingers crossed.

6. The Last of Us (PS3)

In this desperate effort for survival, you play as Joel in a post-apocalypticworld. You have been hardened by your past and tend do only do what willbenefit you. Until you are forced to be an errand by and deliver a girl namedEllie to scientists. For some reason Ellie cannot be infected by the virus thathas turned the world to turmoil. But whatever the reason, Joel is less thanthrilled.

This is a third person shooter/adventure game much like the Uncharted seriesminus the climbing around. It's more focused on the fighting for survival. Asmuch as I enjoyed the gameplay, what really got me was the story. Debatablythe most attached I've ever been to a video game character. I found myselfbeating this game in a single 14 hour session because I couldn't sleep notknowing what happened next. I literally could not put this one down.

I have to admit that I got this game on a whim, but boy did it pay off. Thenonly thing holding it back from being higher is the lack of nostalgia since it is anewer title.

Welcome to the top notch of my list. Each of these games have kept me up atnight, have been beaten dozens of times, I can quote nearly every line andwish I could play for the first time again. So buckle in and be ready to judge.

5. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube/PS2)

Resident Evil 4 took a huge risk and changed the format of this seriesaltogether. Instead of being a true third person game, like previous titles, itgave you control of Leon Kennedy from an "over the shoulder" view that wasvery tight and crisp. This game also traded its slow traditional zombies for an"infected" faster and stronger zombie. You will be given multiple guns to blastthrough your foes to rescue Ashley, the presidents daughter.

The change in gameplay was very welcome and refreshing. But they did notlose much of the fear that the others had. Also the feeling of loneliness wasintact along with the strong storytelling.

All and all this is a great game and was an awesome gamecube exclusive(until they sold out to Sony). Sadly though, it accidently paved the way for theless than stellar 5 and 6.

4. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64/3DS)

Hands down the best Zelda game. Being the only one set outside of Hyrule, you play as Link in the land of Termania. Your goal is to awaken the giantsand stop the moon from crashing on the earth. The catch is you only have 3days and each day the moon is visibly closer than the day before giving a realsince of urgency.

It plays like your typical Zelda game and does it well. The twist this time iswearing masks to grant different abilities, skills, and powers to advance inyour quest to awaken the 4 giants. This game was a happy accident however, and was very very dark for a Nintendo Zelda game.

This game is great, and holds up the tests of time well. It even has caused years of fan forum debates. And what makes me love it is how I get to becounter culture and claim this is better than The Ocarina of Time

3. Super Smash Brothers Melee

Yes I am a part of this society who embraces playing a 14 year old game. AndI say that with pride. I've never played a fighter more than this. You can pickfrom an all-star cast of Nintendo characters and fight to the death.

This game is insanely technically sound, and has room for a variety of stylesand strategy. If 50 different people play as the same character, you will get 50different outcomes. This is a game still growing to this day.

I can't remember the last time I went a week without playing this game at leastonce. This game turns best friends into worst enemies as you abuse yourpoor poor controller.

2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2)

Considered the weakest of the main titles of this series, the creator trolled theworld by secretly having you play as Raiden as opposed to Snake, thebeloved protagonist (which you play as in the first part of the game). You muststop the newest model of metal gear that is being hidden through akidnapping of the president and a environmental nightmare of a giant oil spilloff of Manhattan.

The gameplay is just like the previous installment, but also added newfractures like first person shooting, being able to dodge roll, hold up enemies, and hang off edges. The gameplay is strong, but the story is insane. Don'tskip a cut scene or you'll have no idea what is going on. But it does such agood job, it makes you question your own thoughts and ideas.

I've literally beaten this game more times than any other. I even have a 100%speed run (3 hours and 18 minutes). I can't tell you what it is, but I never gettired of this game.

Honorable Mentions:These are the games that just couldn't quite make the cut. (No order)

Yu-Gi-Oh (GBA)

No particular one, all the gameplay is the card game. I play this a lot when I'mbored, but each is the same so it holds it back.

Ninja Gaiden 2 (PS3)

A great game that I have beaten multiple times, but nowhere near as many asthe games listed in the top 20.

Red Dead Redemption (PS3)

Amazing game. Loved being an old western cowboy that was trying toredeem himself. But lacks replay value and I've never actually owned thisone. That hurts it most.

Socom FireTeam Bravo 2 (PSP)

Sometimes less is more. I strongly prefer the handheld version of Socom, butit lacks replay value.

Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball Max'd (PS2)

Love it because it is a paintball game that was done very well. But it's just anaverage FPS.

Advanced Wars (GBA)

Solid gameplay, but you got to be in the mood to play this RTS game. Thatholds it back.

Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Mordor (PS4)

The ending killed it. Amazing gameplay, interesting story, but weak ending.

Finally my best game

1. Pokemon Gold Version (GBC)

How could it not be the very best?!? You play as a nameless trainer that getshis creature of choice and ventures to collect more, win battles, stop evil, andbe brought to glory and fame. All this is done at the age of 10.

This was the first version I owned. I played red first and picked Charmander, but that was a friend's. My first pokemon that was all mine was totidile. Icouldn't be found without this game in my hand. There's no telling how much Ispent on AA batteries to power my blue gameboy color.

This game added the most to the series. 100 new Pokemon that not one isdumb or a weird concept, gender, breeding, day and night events, and day ofthe week events. It's also the only one where you can travel to two differentregions where at the end of Kanto you battle the greatest trainer of all time,Red. With all the different team combos, there's tons of replay value.

I didn't choose the remake HeartGold because it wasn't first. A great remakethey only added, but it lacks that first play through excitement. But noquestions asked this is my favorite game of all time.

Those of you who have actually finished this list, I not only think you, but encourage you to do the same. Make a list of your own. Deeply search yourself, and see what you really love.I think I will be making others myself.
