On Thursday the preps went outside to watch a digger demolishing the old op shop. It was a lovely example of incidental teaching full of language experience rich in vocab as we were focusing on the letter d for the week. So the next day we reflected on what we had seen. Here are the sentences along with the photos we took of the event.

Prep B Yesterday we watched a digger smashing the op shop down. It was fun, cool and really noisy.

Prep P Yesterday we watched the digger demolish an old op shop from across the road from our school. The digger swung its bucket into the walls and they crashed down.

Stories by 2BJ - Once upon a time there was a little boy named William. He lived with his mum and his older brother in the country side. They had nothing to eat except green grass. So one sunny day he went to an old farmer and he gave him 6 eggs. So he brought them home in his hands. But then he bumped into a tall stranger and then dropped the eggs! Then he picked the eggs up carefully and took them home.

“What have you got there?!” said his mum. “Yeah, what is that?” sneered his older brother. “Eggs!” said William. “What have you done!?” said his mum. “That’s not the way to carry eggs!” said his mum. “The way to carry eggs is to ask someone for some paper then wrap it in the paper then put them in your hat and then walk very slowly home” said his mum. “Sorry mum. I’ll do that next time” said William.

So the next day he went to a dairy and got a big lump of scrumptious cream cheese. So he asked for some paper and wrapped the cream cheese then put it in his hat and walked home slowly.

By the time he got home it was melted. He took off his hat and his mum said “What is that!?” “A big lump of scrumptious cream cheese” said William. “Oh William!” said his mum. “That’s not the way to carry cream cheese” said his mum. “The way to carry cream cheese is to put it with something cold then pop them in a plastic bag and walk home” said his mum. “Sorry mum. I’ll do that next time” said William.

So the next day William went to an old lady and she gave him a small, black, scruffy cat. So he put it with something cold and popped them in a plastic bag and then walked home.

By the time he got home the small, black, scruffy cat was too cold and was frozen! “What is that?” said his mum. “A small, black, scruffy cat” said William. “Oh William!” said his mum. “That’s not the way to carry a small, black, scruffy cat” said his mum. “The way to carry a small, black, scruffy cat is to ask someone for some string then tie the string around its neck not too tight otherwise you will strangle it and not too loose otherwise it will escape, and then drag it home with you” said his mum. “Sorry mum” said William. “I’ll do that next time” said William. So the next day William went to a butcher and he got a big piece of juicy, medium rare steak! He asked for some string and tied it around the big piece of juicy, medium rare steak. Not too tight otherwise he would strangle it and not too loose otherwise it would escape and then he dragged it home.

By the time he got home it was covered in dirt! “What is that dirty thing your dragging in here?!” said his mum. “A big piece of juicy, medium rare steak” said William. “Oh William!” said his mum. “That’s not the way to carry a big piece of juicy, medium rare steak” said his mum. “The way to carry a big piece of juicy, medium rare steak is to put it with something hot pop them in a paper bag then walk home” said his mum. “Sorry mum. I’ll do that next time” said William.

So the next day he went to an ice-cream shop and got an ice-cream. He thought to himself that when his mum gives him instructions he gets them wrong and the ice-cream looked so delicious. He went home and on the way he ate the ice-cream.

“Finally you got something right” said his mum. “Hooray!” cheered his older brother. By Luke – 2J

Noodle Head

Once upon a time there was a boy called Noodle Head. He got everything wrong.

He lived in a house on a hill in the outback. One day he went to the market and bought some

bread. He held it in his palms very tightly – but it crumbled.

Then his Mum screamed, “ What do you have in your hands?”

“Bread Mum!``

“That is not the way to carry bread,” Mum said.

``The way to carry bread is to cover it up with leaves and put it under your hat and came

back home.”

“Ok! Yes Mum!” he said .

The next day he went back to Grandpa and Grandma’s house. They gave him a Dog!

The dog scruffed up his hair on the way home. THE END!! By Nash - 2B
