FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO VIEW THE KEY TEACHING AND LEARNING TOOLS IN LIGHTBOX
Go to: http://school.follett.com/lightbox-demo and click on Glaciers to begin your tour.
Tool #1: Curriculum Correlations
From the main Menu in your Lightbox title, open the Core Curriculum guide by clicking on the button. Does this
document help your teachers identify that standards they are meeting with this unit? Will it save them time by
providing ready access to materials to teach the standards
Tool #2: Embedded Videos
From the main Menu page, click on the Video button. How many pages in your Lightbox title have embedded
videos? View one of videos. Does this feature engage students and address different learning styles?
Tool #3: Curriculum Correlations
From the main Menu page, click on the Audio button. Navigate to a page with the Audio feature and activate
text to speech. Will this help struggling readers learn the content?
Tool #4: Weblinks
From the main Menu page, click on the Weblinks button. How many pages in your Lightbox title have
weblinks? Navigate to one of the Pages and click on the embedded weblink and see what happens. Will this
feature engage your students and provide additional resources all in one place?
Tool #5: Transparencies
From the main Menu page, click on the Transparency button. Navigate to a page with the transparency feature.
Use the tool to control the display of information on the screen. Would your teachers use this ready-made tool
for instruction? Click on the “pen” icon on the document. Would teachers assign these printable activities?
Tools for Teaching & Learning
Tool #6: Google Maps
From the main Menu page, click on the Google Maps button. Navigate to a page with the Google Maps feature
and use the tool to active Google Maps. Does this tool help your students understand the topic in a
geographical context?
Tool #7: Student Activities
From the main Menu page, click on the Activities button. How many pages have embedded student activities?
Open the activities either by navigating to one of the pages or by opening the Activities Pack from the main
Menu page. Is it helpful to teachers and students to offer different types of activities and different ways of
delivering them? Will these activities engage students in learning and provide for different learning styles?
Tool #8: Quiz
From the main Menu page, click Quiz button and take the quiz embedded in your Lightbox title. Will this help
your students check their understanding of the topic?
Tool #9: Integration with Destiny
From the main Menu page, click on the Destiny button. What happens? Will it be helpful to students and
teachers to be able to easily locate additional materials on the subject?
Tool #10: Vocabulary.com
From the Menu page, click on the Vocabulary button. Will this help students develop their academic
vocabulary?
