EN Capi Europe manufactures unique designer flowerpots for indoor and outdoor use. With our different styles and textures, there is a suitable flowerpot for everyone. Part of our production takes place at our own factory in Tilburg. In addition to the modern design, Capi flowerpots are also high quality. They are lightweight, despite the robust exterior, and weather-resistant.

Flowerpots suitable for every garden, interior, terrace and balcony, for any plant and any style. All the flowerpots have their own design and are available in various colours and models.

The company Behind the planters, there is the company’s headquarters in the Netherlands. Part of our production takes place in our factory in Tilburg. Not only our planters, but the entire company is built around the concept of sustainability. Our recyclable planters have a long lifespan, are made through a sustainable production technology and they protect the roots of the plants. It is not a coincidence that Capi Europe has an orange logo. This colour represents the fact that we work from the Netherlands, in order to avoid unnecessary transport costs.

Since November 2017, we have operated from our headquarters in Tilburg, which presents us with lots of opportunities for the future. It is a place where we can grow, but can also think about the next generation. In our headquarters we don’t use gas, and we use the warmth of our production process to heat the rest of our building. Our sprinkler system is filled by rainwater and the LED lighting in the warehouse is equipped with motion sensors. These steps are the beginning of a scenario whereby we will become completely self-sufficient in terms of our energy needs in the future.

The people Behind the planters, there are a lot of people working on our mission. Our goal is to connect with our local community and embrace a green lifestyle together. We want to create an experience for the home and garden that doesn’t just look good, but is also sustainable. These goals start be ensuring that our own Capi community lives up to our values, by telling our story and guaranteeing a high quality result to our partners, clients and customers.

Behindthe planters

Toine van de Ven

The founderBehind the planters, there is a story that begins in 1997. More than 20 years ago, Toine van de Ven started a one-man business in Udenhout. Over the years, his product range changed from heavy concrete sculptures and ornaments, to heavy Terrazzo planters. The planters were then replaced by lightweight Terrazzo-look planters to make them easier to use. These planters are still a big part of the Capi collection today. They have been enriched by the sustainable Made in Holland collection that originated a few years ago, along with the biggest change in Capi’s history: the introduction of reshoring. Toine would never have imagined that delivering heavy sculptures would become the preliminary stage for the Made in Holland products available these days. Within 20 years, Toine has made several big changes, with reshoring being the largest one. Nonetheless, the company has always been driven by sustainability, optimism, innovation and common sense. These are values that you will still find in Capi’s DNA. And so the story continues...

Think qualityorangeSee Part of our production takes place in our own factory in Tilburg. You can recognise these planters by their unique orange interior. This was intended to represent their place of origin and it is nowadays a recognisable feature of our brand. The orange layer also provides the planters with insulation, offering your plants extra protection against both heat and cold. Read more about the insulating layer on page 11.

We have paid particular attention to the design of our Made in Holland series. Although these pots can be used outdoors irrespective of the wind and weather, we’ve noticed that more and more customers are using them indoors as a design object. That is why our Made in Holland planters are designed for indoor & outdoor use.

Each of our pots has a high level of finishing and lots of great features. All Made in Holland flowerpots are UV- and frost-resistant, as well as being fracture-resistant and extremely light, which makes them both convenient to use and easy to maintain. All of the pots manufactured in the Netherlands are 100% recyclable. Therefore, they are very sustainable. Due to these features, we can guarantee high quality planters with a long lifespan and we provide a 10 year warranty with this collection.

Our production processCapi Europe has developed its own rotation moulding method for the production of the Made in Holland pots. We are the only ones in the world to use this particular rotation moulding technique. With this process, we save up to 80% of the energy compared to traditional rotation moulding.

Spinning aroundThe Made in Holland flowerpots are made from a mixture of polyethylene and wood fibres. These raw materials are poured into the mould using a filling system. This is heated, in order to melt and liquefy the mixture. The machines spin around so that everything is distributed throughout the mould. The substance is then cooled to produce the flowerpot. The two layers of the pot (outer layer and insulating layer) are made in a single cycle.

Finishing touchesOnce the flower pots are removed from the machines, they proceed to the quality control area via a conveyor belt. An inspection is carried out by our product specialists. Afterwards, each pot is provided with a Capi label, and a barcode. The flowerpots are then wrapped, placed on a pallet and made ready for shipment!

The Made in Holland planters are made of a mix of polyethylene and wood fibres, and they consist of two layers. The outside layer shows the design of our planters. The second layer is a unique insulation layer on the inside of the pot. This bright orange layer protects the roots of the plants.

Lightweight – The planter resembles natural stone, but has the unexpected benefit of being lightweight.

Double layer – Ensures a stronger planter which is fracture-resistant.

Protects your plants – Plants will live longer, because the orange insulating layer protects the roots of the plant from heat in the summer and frost in the winter.

Sturdy surface – The surface has a sturdy natural stone appearance because of the wood fibres.

EN Would you like to use the flowerpot indoors? Then make sure there is no drainage hole in the bottom of the flowerpot. If the flowerpot does have a drainage hole, use an insert. Would you like to use the flowerpot outdoors? Then make sure the flowerpot has a drainage hole. If the flowerpot does not have a drainage hole, drill one of about 25 mm yourself.

Cover the drainage hole before you fill the pot, for example with gauze, so the hole does not become blocked but excess water can still drain away.

Next, fill the pot to about 1/3 with hydro grains. Hydro grains improve the water balance in the pot, so the plant can grow better. The rest of the pot can be filled with potting soil. As decoration, the top layer can be covered with hydro grains or wood chippings, for example. This also stops the top layer from drying out so quickly.

Put the flowerpot where you want it before you fill it, so you don’t have to move it when it is full. If you do want to move the flowerpot, pick the whole pot up rather than holding it by the edges. Otherwise, the weight can cause the flowerpot to crack.

hydrokorrels of houtsnippers. Dit zorgt er tevens voor dat de bovenste laag minder snel uitdroogt.

Zet je bloempot alvast op de juiste plek voordat je deze gaat vullen, zodat je deze na het vullen niet meer hoeft te verplaatsen. Wil je de bloempot wel nog een stukje verplaatsen, pak de bloempot dan in zijn geheel op en niet bij de randen. Door het gewicht kan de bloempot dan gaan scheuren.

Stellen Sie den Blumentopf schon an seinen Platz, bevor sie ihn füllen, damit Sie ihn nach dem Befüllen nicht mehr umstellen müssen.

Wenn Ihnen der Blumentopf ein Stück weiter weg doch besser gefällt, heben Sie ihn dann im Ganzen hoch und nicht an den Rändern. Durch das Gewicht können Risse im Blumentopf entstehen.

If you have a pot with a drainage hole, you should not use it indoors without an insert, because excess water will drain away and may damage your floor. Why do planters have a drainage hole?

This drainage hole allows the soil to breathe, which ensures healthy roots. This makes the planter frost-resistant. The water can drain from the planter preventing the soil from freezing, expanding and bursting out of the planter. Be sure to put the planter on raised pot pads to ensure the planter has sufficient drainage.
