Collective Impact Initiatives work towards success in 7 ways:

? Common agenda: A shared vision for change and a plan to realise it.

? Shared measurement – Contributors work together to define measures of success, and commit to tracking progress by sharing their data.

? Strategic learning - Strategic learning is a process that supports groups to quickly and accurately evaluate the ongoing progress of their efforts. Using strategic learning, groups are more adaptable and able to achieve their vision more quickly.

? Mutually reinforcing activities – Contributors coordinate and align activities to work in concert – making the best use of each contributor’s energy.

? Continuous communication – Open and ongoing communication builds trust between all involved to strengthen collaboration.

? Authentic community engagement - Co-designing solutions with (not ‘for’) the community puts the people who matter most at the centre of the initiative.

? Backbone – All contributors are supported by a dedicated individual or team that coordinates the collaboration.

Together SA is South Australia’s backbone for Collective Impact

Collective Impact is a framework for tackling deeply entrenched and complex social problems. It is a structured approach to helping individuals, government, business, philanthropy and not-for-profit organisations work together to achieve significant, lasting, social and economic change.

Collective Impact Initiatives are built from the ground up. Everyone has a say in the plan for change and a hand in making it happen, starting with the people most affected.

Initiatives begin with an idea, a passion and a realisation that whatever has been done to address the defined problem in the past is no longer working – it is time to act differently.
