Barrier Workshop bioORMOCER®
As a new meber of the European Bioplastics Association EUBP as well as of Medtech Pharma Net-work, Fraunhofer ISC would like to get in closer contact with the other members of both associations and to present our developments and R&D know-how for a close insight into our work.
Bioplastic and medical needs seem to be very different, but both sides are unified in the necessity to use materials which offer high performances despite or just because of biodegradability / biocompatibility.
Our new bio-based and degradable material class bioORMOCER® can serve both needs. This new ma-terial class allows producing e.g. biodegradable barrier layers which are competitive to conventional barrier coating materials. With their good barrier properties against water vapor and oxygen they are the missing link for ambitious biodegradable barrier films for food, pharma or cosmetic packaging.Additionally, bioORMOCER® has the perspective to be biocompatible and absorbable in physiological environments and thus create advanced solutions in medical applications based on good barrier pro-perties or antimicrobial functions.
Furthermore, several additional functionalities feasible due to the modular concept of (bio)ORMO-CER® complete the material performance.
In our workshop you will have the occasion to learn more about the wide range of opportunities of-fered by bioORMOCER® and to discuss trends and future needs of material performances. A guided tour to our Center of Applied Analytics ZAA opens an interesting view backstage our R&D.
Following the workshop we offer an informal networking evening in the historic center of Würzburg.
It will be a pleasure for us to welcome you in Würzburg.

18:30: Meeting in front of the old city hall of Wuerzburg and walk with the night watchman through the old town (with a St. Nicholas's Day surprise)
