Sew elastic into waistband 1/8" from edge. Be sure to hold fabric taught so that elastic is stretched to thesame length as the fabric. You will need to "help" the fabric through the sewing machine by pulling it fromthe back, behind the foot, to keep everything tight. Be sure to back up or "stop" on your machine to hold

stitching. When you release, your skirt should bounce back to the original measurement of the elastic andyour waistline fabric will be gathered.

Tips, Tricks & SizingJust a few tips before you start. This pattern is for a size 2T skirt with an18" waist and a 9" hem line. lf you need a larger waist just add additionalsections. For a longer hem just add inches to the bottom continuing thedirection of the curve. You really can't mess up this pattern so don't worryabout being perfect.

Q: How many Pieces should I cut?A: Take waist measurement in inches and divide by 3, then add 2.For example: an 18" waist divided by 3 = 6 then add 2 and you get 8 so I

cut out 8 pieces. Example #2:22"13=7 113 + 2 =9 1/3 ( just cut 9 )

Add one inch to waist measurement for length of elastic. Burn ends ofelastic to prevent knitted outside from fraying

lf using a fabric with a one way pattern make sure to cut all pieces in thesame direction.

Q: How much fabric do I need?A: For exact pattern included you will need 1/2yd of 45" width fabric or 2fat quarters (18" x21") these measurements are exact with about 1/2" tospare so if your local fabric store does not straighten the material beforecutting you will need extra just in case. For larger sizes you will needmore. lt's better to have too much than not enough. You can always makea matching flower clip or headband.
