Today’s Securest Job
Technology
What Is Technology?• The means
employed to provide objects necessary for human sustenance and comfort
• More stuff made to make our lives easier and us more lazy
Examples• Some examples of technology are:• 1) The Computer
• 2) The Remote Control
• 3) The Cell Phone
• 4) The CD/DVD Player
• 5) The Answering Machine
• 6) Email
• 7) Air-Conditioning
• 8) Transportation (Cars, Planes, Trains..)
The Computer• One common example
associated with the word technology is the computer
• It seems to get smaller and smaller every time its improved upon.
• This could either be that the parts have been squished into a smaller space, or that there just isn’t as many parts inside as builders first thought was needed.
• And now, there’s so many different programs, something that was once thought to make life easier seems to make it more complicated
The Remote Control
• The remote control is one of the laziest inventions ever created
• You get whatever station or channel you want from the comfort of your Laz-y-Boy
• Then again, you still have to change the batteries every once in a while, so its not completely effortless
The Cell Phone• This is one technological
breakthrough that has become “Man’s/Women’s Best Friend” and also their worst enemy
• Dialing 911 for an emergency when you’re out in the middle of nowhere=good idea
• Talking to your buddy while you’re driving down the highway dodging those big metal things called cars=bad idea
• And how dependable are they really? Unless you get some other part to go with it, they don’t perform as well as you would like
The CD or DVD Player• Here’s a couple things that
have totally revolutionized the way we entertain ourselves
• No more big videos or tapes to lug around, just small round devices that contain tons of our favorite music and movies
• They can also be stored on the computer too.
• One more problem, the dust they tend to collect over time can actually ruin the info instead of just making it look dirty on the outside; no self-protecting plastic casing anymore
The Answering Machine• In a way, it makes us feel
important, like we have our own secretary that takes messages for us when we’re not home
• It also takes messages when we just don’t feel like getting up to answer the phone
• Don’t you love calling someone up on the phone and instead of getting that person, having to listen to a completely automated message and not the human being your voice was intended for?
• Plus, you have to wait for the beep, and you can only talk for 30 sec.
Kind of like a genie. First you’ve got to rub the lamp, and then you only get three wishes…
Email• Its easier than writing (if
you know how to use a keyboard properly) and doesn’t take days to get to its destination
• You can say anything you want to anyone you want and keep the other side guessing on who you really are
• There’s nothing wrong with that, unless you happen to be a young teenage girl talking to some guy twice your age with only one thought on his mind
Air Conditioning• If its hot outside, sit where
there’s a breeze or some shade, this makes it more bearable to go outside
• Humans weren’t meant to live in the desert, so we shouldn’t
• Instead of wasting our time watching TV and using our other technology, people should go out and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air
• Winter is the only right time to stay indoors. That’s what houses and shelter are for, to keep us warm and inside from the cold air
• Besides, paper fans worked just fine to cool us off before air conditioning came along
All Forms Of Transportation
• Cars, Bikes, Trains, Buses, Subways, Planes, Boats…..
• All of these make getting from one place to another easier
• They also pollute the air• People don’t get the
exercise they need• And they wonder why
so many people in the USA are overweight and/or sickly?
• What happened to your own two feet or even the horse?
To Sum It All Up• Sure, technology helps, but at
what costs?• Do we like being lazy and sitting
around?• Do we enjoy being responsible if
someone’s not paying attention?• How about breathing some fresh
air and getting out for a change?• The one thing about technology is
that as things become more advanced in making our lives easier, it doesn’t prepare us for when things get hard, and we don’t have our little “toys”.
• I think that sometimes we should just go “back to basics” and learn some things from our ancestors: If we can’t do something on our own, get help. If we can’t get something done fast enough, find some more patience. And if the fire gets to hot, get out of the kitchen…..
