So what is geocaching?
• Finding a container hidden outside that includes a logbook for geocachers to sign

• Geocachers use a GPS unit.
• GPS= Global Positioning System

• Go to www.geocaching.com
• Type in your zip code
• Click on a geocache nearby
• Enter your coordinates into the GPS
• Drive, bike, or walk to the location

What are the rules for geocaching?
• If you take something from the cache, leave something of equal or greater value.

There are 846,636 active geocaches around the world.

There were only 111,468 caches hidden around the world. This means that in 4 years, almost 750,000 caches have been hidden all over the world!

First Mission as a Geocacher! Tia and I have been
hiding caches for you to find with your teacher around the school. We are challenging your class to be the first class or the first person to find the cache! Some have swag in them, but today you won’t need to trade!
Things to remember…
• Remember, they will not be buried, so you will not need a shovel.
• Remember to be careful of the muggles! They are everywhere!
