Racism/Prejudice

Bottom Line: The spiritual disease of Racism/Prejudice has no place in the

church or in the lives of Christian people. Also we have to realize and recognize

that anyone who claims God as their Father does not have a choice on who be-

comes their brothers and sisters.

Different kinds of prejudices:

___________ prejudice, ______________ prejudice, ____________prejudice

Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female,

for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Racism is a negative passion toward a group of people. It’s an attitude that I

am superior to another person simply because of the color of their skin or na-

tionality. Prejudice means to ________________.

The Underlying Causes of Racism:

1. ______________________

2. _________________ “Fear of man will prove to be a snare” Proverbs 29:25

3. Cultural __________________

4. __________ “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come

from your desires that battle within you?” James 4:1 “My brother, as my

dear believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism. If you really

keep the royal law found in scripture, love your neighbor as yourself, you’re

doing right. But if you show favoritism you sin…” James 2:1, 8-9

What should a Christian do about racism?

1. _____________ our sin. “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves

and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and

will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:8-9

2. Be committed to God’s will of _________________. “Therefore, if anyone

is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All

this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us

the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Cor. 5:17-18

3. _____________ past offenses. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,

brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compas-

sionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:31-32

4. Build ________________ with people of other races and with people not

like me.

5. Keep a sense of __________. “A cheerful heart is good medicine but a

crushed spirit dries up the bones.” Proverbs 17:22

6. See that God _____________ all people. “The Lord does not look at the

things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord

looks at the heart.” I Samuel 16:7 “We love because He first loved us. If any-

one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who

does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has

not seen...Whoever loves God must also love his brother.” I John 4:19-21
