Sebastian has lived without speech since
birth. At frst, his parents could interpret
his needs by reading his eyes and acial
expressions, just as every parent does
with their child. Eventually they introduced
communication pictures and Bliss symbols.
Ater a ew years at school, he also began
to use an AAC device.
Communication was very time consuming
and tedious or Sebastian. Everything
demanded a great deal o concentration,
regardless o whether he was using the
scanning solution he had at the time, or eye
reading combined with the Bliss board, his
mother Susanne explains.
Ne technica aids
It was at an inormation event about eye
based communication that Sebastian and
his parents frst heard about Tobii. Because
the MyTobii P10 allows the user reedomo head and trunk movement
in ront o the
system, it appeared to be a good solution
or Sebastian. Not long thereater he had
the chance to test the MyTobii P10 and it
worked superbly rom the start.
I used to get tired quickly. I oten couldnt
express what I wanted to say. It made me
really sad and rustrated when no one
understood what I was trying to tell them.
Now I can write and tell others what I want
them to do, Sebastian explains.
Reaizing his gas
Sebastian now uses his MyTobii P10 bothin school and at home to
write, email, talk,
play games, listen to music, draw, do his
homework, and call or help. He eels that
it is much easier to control a computer with
his eyes instead o with his oot and voice.
As Sebastian demonstrates, eye tracking
technology allows people the ability to
reach their ull potential. Take writing in his
school diary or instance. Sebastian now
writes between our and fve sentences a
day in his diary. Beore he had his MyTobii,
he only had enough stamina to write twosentences.
Eye tracking allows Sebastian to
communi-cate eortlessly and he spends
hours in ront o his MyTobii each day, says
his mother.
A change fr the entire fami
Communication is central in the dynamics
o any amily and MyTobii has had an impact
on everyday lie or Sebastians entire amily.
With MyTobii we can fnally interact like
a regular amily. Sebastian can tease his
big sister, just like little brothers do. He can
also do things more independently o hisparents, which is
incredibility important
or his personal development, comments

The new abilities have boosted his sel-
confdence.
We watch Sebastian grow and develop.
He has made giant advances since he got
his MyTobii. He sees opportunities that
previously were unimaginable. He has
dreams or the uture and can oresee a
place in society. As parents, it warms ourhearts, says
