November 12, 2010 Welcome to the 2010 Fall Games! Special Olympics Georgia received one of the warmest welcomes ever from the wonderful city of Statesboro. The business community has been so generous; the citizens so helpful volunteering and the high-achieving Games Management Team volunteers organizing an exciting weekend for us all. More than 1,400 athletes and coaches from across the state, will compete in softball, bocce, cy-cling, golf, and long distance walking and running. Get ready to be inspired. Soon, you’ll join our huge fan base for the athletes as we cheer them on to achievement. They will do their personal best, show us joy and courage during competition — the true spirit of Special Olympics. Thank you to the people who will work well throughout the weekend and who will make this event a success! Thank you to the presenting sponsor, Sea Island Bank, and the other corporations, individuals and foundations whose generous support helped make this year’s games great and whom are listed in this program book. To the Games Management Team and the City of Statesboro and Bulloch County, thank you for your constant effort and dedication to Special Olympics Georgia’s mission of providing athletic training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. We’ll miss you next year. Athletes, we are proud of you! Sincerely,

Georgia Milton-Sheats Chief Executive Officer

LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest annual grassroots fundraising event benefitting Special Olympics Georgia. This signature event plays a significant role in Special Olympics Georgia’s an-nual budget. The LETR involves law enforcement officers from agencies statewide who work year round to raise funds and awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics Georgia, and have set another record raising over $650,000 in 2010! In addition to this, these officers also run the “Flame of Hope” across the State of Georgia in the Annual Torch Relay and into the Opening Ceremony of the State Winter, Summer, and Fall Games. The top five money raising departments have the honor and the duty to guard the “Flame of Hope” during Special Olympics competitions. Be sure to check out the newest winter weather event hosted by the Torch Run February 19th — the Po-lar Plunge! Get all the details at www.PolarPlungeGA.com. Please help all of us from Special Olympics Georgia in thanking these incredibly generous and brave law enforcement officers.
