Located in the Monterosa Ski area with over 150km of pistes. The ski area incorporates the lift-linked resorts of Alagna, Champoluc and Gressoney, offering a total of 115 miles of pistes. Each of the attractive old towns is tucked into deep folds of valleys that fan out from the mountainous frontier between Italy and Switzerland. The dramatic peaks flanking Champoluc boast the greatest average height of any resort in the Alps and, on clear days, skiers are rewarded with wonderful views of Europe’s three highest peaks: Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa (also known as Dufourspitze), after which the ski area is named. Alagna is legendary for advanced off-piste skiers, but the area as a whole has a lot to offer deep snow skiers at every level. At the other end of the spectrum, for improver/intermediates the skiing is relaxed with plenty of family friendly terrain and magnificent scenery. Intermediates and above should consider the Monterosa ski region as a whole rather than as three separate valleys. Looking at the piste map these valleys can be seen, very broadly and from left to right, as suitable for beginner to intermediate, intermediate and intermediate to advanced skiers. The on-piste skiing includes only 17km of black runs, none of which are particularly challenging, but the region’s off-piste terrain is a magnet for experienced deep snow skiers from advanced to expert level and there are plenty of mountain guides operating in the region. Other resort activities include: • Heliskiing • Snow Yoga • Ice Skating Rink • Ice Rosa Ring • Alagna Spa

Skiing holidays for everyone

This family run 3* hotel was built in 1865 and recently has had new owners, who are renovating the hotel with a new lounge, sauna and a heated ski room.

The Hotel Monterosa has ten comfortable double rooms all with en-suite bathrooms. In addition there are two double/twin rooms connected with shared bathrooms.

This quaint hotel is complemented by a stunning dining room where we will eat during five nights of the stay.

The Margeritha dining room Serves both traditional dishes from Piemonte, as well as Italian classics. The food is carefully prepared and made from local, fresh ingredients of the highest quality.

The Hotel Monterosa is situated in one of Italy’s best wine regions, Piemonte. Here, exclusive Barolo and Barbaresco wines are made of the Nebbiolo grape, robust wines of the Barbera grape and the sweet, sparkling Asti of the

Muscat grape. On the hotel’s wine list, you will always find some varieties from the local area, along with a wide selection of other good wines primarily from Piemonte.

Caffè delle GuideThe Caffè delle Guide, is situated just below the hotel at ground level serving breakfast and lunch. The café has exclusive access to the piazza, which becomes a lovely open-air café in the summer.

Eating on The MountainItaly is known for its food and this beautiful ski area offers some of the best restaurants we have experienced on the mountains.

We will organise which restaurants to eat at each day as a group. Alternatively, you can spread your wings and find your own route.
