Saveetha Engineering College is one of the 357 Engineering colleges in India selected by In-

fosys for their Campus connect program which has been running in our college since 2006. The open

house for the 2014-2015 batch was conducted on 26.02.2015. Ms.Kalpana Balaraman, Member, Edu-

cation and Research was the speaker. Mr.Saravanan, HOD, CSE welcomed. Prof.R.Dheenadayalu Dean

(ICT) and SPOC for Infosys campus connect program gave brief introduction to the program.

Ms.Kalpana Balaraman said the industry expects Attitude and Communication skills to convince

the HR that he/she is suitable for the company and that the HR should select the student. She advised

the students to get a placement before they leave the college since getting selected in off campus

drives is very difficult. She also pointed out that this is the right time for III year students to get pre-

pared for the interview. They should get updated on the latest technologies like Cloud, Big data and

Mobility and study any app critically with a view to improving it and creating a better app. HTML5,

CSS and Jquery are some of the technologies they should know. Through these technologies web pages

are made compatible for smartphone.

The version of Foundation Program is change from FP3.0 to 4.1with three modules which will be

covered in 65 hours of classroom sessions and 55 hours hours of hands on. She advised the students to

get familiar with eclipse platform for hands on. She suggested the following websites:

www.scratch.mit.edu www.learn.code.org/hoc/1 www.learn.code.org/hoc/2h www.eclipse.org www.livewea.com

Ms.Kalpana showed videos on the history and performance of Infosys in betwwen her lecture. Finally

Ms.Kalpana emphasised the point that FP 4.1 curriculum is the same as the one followed by Infosys for

training the selected candidates. Hence those undergoing FP 4.1 training will be able to complete their

initial phase of the training quicker than others.

Mr.Vijayaraj, Head, IT department proposed a vote of thanks.

“Teaching” single word that encompasses the various prospects of students and their activities. Students

are reflections of a teacher. Evidently only academic performance cannot be considered as a scale to

measure the quality of teaching, in addition to that vision of future generation also depends on a very

common yet widely respected word “teacher”. Cognitive Learning is considered as one of the best way

to deliver streams of tightly packed concepts in short bursts of teaching sessions.

Mrs.V.Ajitha, has delivered brilliant sessions of lectures and she has done commendable hard work to

take teaching methodologies to the next level. Transforming a person into a sincere and a valuable unit

of society and developing concern towards the humanity should be the prime objective of every teacher,

but to fulfill this, all that's required is seeding of certain good habits and setting the proper attitude to-

wards goal.

Her Active Participation in ISTE Workshops conducted by IITB on “Pedagogy for Effective use of ICT in

Engineering Education” and “Research Methods in Education Technology” has helped her a lot in moving

towards her interest. Having attracted by her assignments with two lesson plans containing visualizations,

IITB requested her to participate in one of their research projects on teaching with visualizations by cre-

ating one more lesson plan with an animation. She has accepted the offer and started working on it with

interest to complete their study. After fulfilling the first stage in the ISTE ‘auxiliary survey’, stage two

had sections of ‘lessons with the visualization’, she has finally made her way to the third stage of the cur-

rent program. She is working with Prof. Sahana Murthy, Interdisciplinary Programme (IDP) in Educational

Technology, IIT Bombay to develop advanced teaching techniques.

She will be getting a letter of appreciation for participating in this IITB research study from Prof. Sa-

hana Murthy (IIT Bombay).

We convey our heartiest greetings and best wishes for the future. We also hope that Mrs. V. Ajitha will

create some effective teaching tools that will not only benefit the student community rather they will be

considered as training tools for all categories and more than that for the welfare of humanity.

We wish her all the best !!
