Cardboard Kids Is a Child Abuse Prevention Campaign Happening in San Antonio and

PCI is participating! To bring awareness to this incredibly urgent issue, ChildSafe created

the Cardboard Kids Campaign. Cardboard Kids are 2-foot tall cardboard figures shaped

like children that represent one of the thousands of children that are abused and neglected

at the hands of adults in our community each year. Community members, businesses,

and families are encouraged to decorate and display their own Cardboard Kids on

“Reveal Day” on Thursday April 4, to create awareness about child abuse and

neglect and our mission of ending child abuse in Bexar County.

If you’ve kept track of the news, you’ve heard that many of the school districts are

moving towards full day prekindergarten. This is wonderful news for the number of 4-

year olds not able to benefit from a full day setting. Research is clear about the benefits of

quality, early childhood education, especially for children of poverty, and Head Start has

been providing full-day quality education and comprehensive service since its inception.

So, we would like to share some of the things that make PCI stand out!

The mission of Parent/Child Incorporated is to provide high-quality early childhood

developmental and educational services in order to empower our children and their

families to become responsible citizens who value education and community.

"It's in our DNA" to provide high-quality early childhood developmental and

educational services

3. Small teacher/child ratios

4. Shared Governance

5. Data Driven

So, spread the word PCI! Why fit in when we Stand Out!

“We’re Growing San Antonio’s Tomorrow…Today!”

As I close, I’d like to commend you on all that you do. The daily news reminds us of how

blessed we are. There are thousands of people without homes, jobs, insurance, and can’t

pay their bills. All of this brings to mind how thankful we should be to have steady

employment and to do our best to provide the high quality our mission states. So I

challenge each of you to maintain a positive and family friendly attitude, be tolerant of

others and treat others the way you’d like to be treated.

Have a great week!

“PCI…Data Driven…Community Inspired…2.0!”

“We’re Growing San Antonio’s Tomorrow… Today!”
