To Learn and to Have Fun: 4-H Club Meetings

• To have fun• To do stuff using your head,

heart, and hands• To have fun• To practice leading• To have fun• To build relationships

It’s never about “business for business sake” or adults telling kids what to do.

It’s not a lecture.

There’s not a right

way or wrong

way – as long as it’s fun

and useful.

Group Decisions & Business

• Call to order• Opening pledges• Roll call• Minutes & Correspondence• Treasurer’s report• Reports of committees• Old business• New business• Adjournment

Keep it short and sweet.

Having Fun While Learning

Program or Educational Activities• Demonstrations by members• Judging or project lesson• Opportunities to learn by doing• Guest speakers• Group activities• Special tours• Community service activities• Club and Individual Updates

Group Building & RecreationThis is not just “killing time.” It’s important for building social and emotional skills, through:• Really Good Games• Improvisation• Just Move! activities• Healthy Refreshments

The Club Recreation Committee should put as much planning into this as any other part of the 4-H meeting.
