To come in 2010 Goal of the Certicate Today, more than ever, automotive engineering is one of the most tech- nologically interesting domains to face the sustainability challenges of automotive engineering of the 21st century. Experts in automo- tive engineering are poised to develop innovations that will change society and address a wide variety of global problems, deve- lop innovative solutions to shape new vehicles and transportation systems with smaller environmental impact. The goal aims at providing engineers and scientists with a one- year program (60 credits) to enhance their skills to handle clean technologies required by modern automotive industry: ecient and clean propulsion systems (ICE, HEV) and high perfor- mance cars with good dynamic properties. The program also involves a one semester internship to develop the students’ entrepreneurship ability to start innovative projects from idea to industrial reality. The interdisciplinary program combines lectures given by eld experts from university and industry and high amount of practical works. The certicate is co-organized by University of Liege and Campus Au- tomobile at Spa-Francorchamps, a Competence Center of FOREM. The training will take place at the Automotive Campus located on the boar- der of Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The lab works will take advan- tage of the modern equipments and facilities oered by the Automotive Campus and one of the most wonderful Formula 1 race track. The students will be selected amongst masters in engineering and in industrial and manufacturing sciences, but also amongst masters in sciences (physics, chemistry) or graduate professionals who can show a high motivation and a long expertise and in the automotive eld. The sustainable automotive engineering degree is tailored to develop the skills required by working professionals from automotive industry and race car teams. The program is made of two modules of lectures (vehicle dynamics and safety / clean propulsion systems) and one mo- dule in which students will develop an innovative project in industry via ve-month internship program. Lecture sessions introduce the topics and provide the theoretical background to handle the laboratories and the projects. Goal of the Certi!cate

Today, more than ever, automotive engineering is one of the most tech-nologically interesting domains to face the sustainability challenges of automotive engineering of the 21st century. Experts in automo-tive engineering are poised to develop innovations that will change society and address a wide variety of global problems, deve-lop innovative solutions to shape new vehicles and transportation systems with smaller environmental impact.

Modules 1 and 2 of the certi!cate are accessible to regular students from master 2 in engineering at University of Liege or students from other Universities admitted through Erasmus Program (!nalité specialisée des masters en mécanique, en électricité ou en électromécanique). Module 3 is substituted by the regular Master thesis.

Admission & Applications

The courses require a solid background in scienti"c and engineering matters. Therefore the program is open to students who have a master degree in enginee-ring or a master in industrial and manufacturing science.

The certi"cate in Sustainable Automotive Engineering is also accessible to applicants with other masters (physics, chemistry) and bachelor graduates who want to improve and update their knowledges. Howe-ver these applications are subject to an assessment program to admission. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer are ways to recognise appli-cants’ skills and knowledge gained through formal and informal education and training, work experience (typi-cally 5 to 10 years of professional experience in high tech enterprises or race teams), and/or life experience (inclu-ding volunteer work; committee responsibilities; family duties, hobbies). Assessment committee is shaped by the professors of the master.

Graduates will be able to work e#ectively as auto-motive engineering specialists, leading technolo-gical innovation aiming at increasing the sustaina-bility of automotive products.
