Tankguard Flexline Full-on flexibility for your cargo vessels

Broadest cargo flexibility

Longest maintenance interval

Rapid turnaround

• Optimal utilization of the fleet

• Take on cargo even when only aggressive cargoes are available

• Applicable to 97% of the world’s critical shipped paint aggressive cargoes

• Prolonged coating lifetime can save up to $600,000 in maintenance costs

• 45 additional days of operation can potentially result in operational income of $630,000

• Tankguard Flexline requires few ventilation days after carrying aggressive cargoes

• Fast desorption means less ventilation time prior to vessel re-load

• One day less ventilation time equates to additional earnings of approximately $14,000

“Using Jotun’s Tankguard Flexline enables us to carry an extensive range of products and chemicals, including methanol, with higher flexibility, capacity and durability. This improves our operational efficiency.”

Johan Jäwert, Vice President Commercial Operations, Stena Bulk

In today’s competitive marine environment, it’s vital to obtain the commercial edge to ensure a competitive advantage.

Tankguard Flexline is a cargo tank coating with Flexforce technology that gives your vessels full flexibility to carry different cargoes – vital when only aggressive cargo types are available. Full flexibility means a full cargo vessel, and that’s a great benefit to your business.

Flexforce technologyThe Flexforce technology enables fast desorption of cargoes without exhausting the coating. This leads to longer maintenance interval and minimal risk of cargo cross contamination.

There will always be a certain cargo absorption into the coating in cargo tanks. Repeated absorption and desorption causes the coating to expand and contract, stretching the bonds of the polymer network.

The unique feature of the Flexforce technology is the built-in flexibility (network to the left) that allows cargo molecules to absorb and desorb without damaging the coating.

Over time the damages to the network will evolve into micro-cracking, being the first stage of a coating break down with expensive maintenance following. The flexibility of the Flexforce technology (network to the left) allows additional cargo cycles without film deterioration.

Turnaround time

A coating with fast desorption require less ventilation time prior to re-loading the vessel. Tankguard Flexline requires few ventilation days even after carrying aggressive cargoes.

Temperature resistance

Loading and unloading certain cargo, for instance palm oil, requires an increase in the cargo temperature. Tankguard Flexline can handle the necessary increase in temperature without damaging the coating.

Durability

Challenging cargo cycles can contribute to coating fatigue and need for premature maintenance. Tankguard Flexline endures exposure to aggressive cargoes, extended cleaning cycles, hot cargoes and repeated absorption and desorption cycles of low molecular cargoes, without this contributing to premature coating fatigue.
